Six people were out on a boat today. The boat capsized. Four people are dead. One person is still missing. (News) How awful!

Bay Ridge is loving Terina Restaurant at 8424 3rd Avenue. Tonight they shared this photo of the Speakeasy downstairs. That would be nice for a small group celebration.

Qahwah House is Opening on 86th St./4th Ave.
Qahwah House is Opening on the corner of 4th Avenue and 86th Street, where the Ay Kebab used to be.
There’s a Qahwah House on Bedford Avenue and they make fantastic chai.

Qahwah is an Arabic word that means “coffee.” You can hear how to pronounce it:

Good Luck to the owners of Qahwah House!
When we moved to Bay Ridge, this location was Mocha Coffee Shop and it was always busy because people met people from other areas there (the 86th Street train station entrance is there).
I thought the former coffee shop was called Mocha Mocha, but the photo only has one Mocha.

E & J is Having Topps RIP Night Tonight
Update: (See their photos here and here) – there’s no one on cells phones – it’s just collectors hanging out and having a good time.
From 7:00 – 9:00 pm tonight, E&J at 6906 Fort Hamilton Pkwy is having Topps RIP Night for collectors of all ages. The pictures from their events are always fantastic because it’s people of all different ages enjoying the same hobby.

Package Thief Arrested on 3rd & 88th Street
This package thief was arrested on 3rd Avenue and 88th Street in Bay Ridge.
Multiple people reported this package thief taking items. If the value of what he is taken in total is high enough, the police will be able to charge him with a felony, rather than a misdemeanor.
One of the Ridgites this man stole from urged other residents to call 311 and file a police report with the 68th precinct if a porch pirate steals from you. If you have video to share with the police, it’s even better! Send email to: PANAGIOTIS.PAPAMICHALAKIS@nypd.org
I know many people are discouraged from reporting package thieves because the thieves have gotten away with doing this for a long time, but the new leadership at the 68th Precinct seems to be handling the cases now.
And if everyone is reporting them like crazy, maybe we will get rid of them in our community.

If You Live Near the Verrazzano Bridge, Get Ready for Noise
Community Board 10 shared that from Monday, February 24th to Friday, February 28th, the Upper Level of the Verrazzano Bridge will be closed from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am.
