Krispy Pizza on 13th Avenue and 71st Street closed for renovations on February 10th.
They left a message that they would reopen on Wednesday, then they left this message that they would reopen Friday:
They updated yesterday and shared that they are waiting for some permits before they can open. They will update here.

February 13, 2025Package Thief Stole My Box, But Brought It Back
I arrived home to find a box with medication open on my stoop. I thought it was strange that it would be delivered that way.
I looked at the cameras on my house. A package thief stole the box and then minutes later returned it. She must have felt bad that she took medication!

February 12, 2025Big Chief Fined Almost Six Million Dollars. AG James is Happy. Bay Ridge Gets Nothing.
The NYS Attorney General, Leticia James did a dance today because Big Chief was fined six million dollars.
If you remember, Big Chief was a business on the corner of 74th Street and 3rd Avenue in Bay Ridge that was selling cannabis illegally from 2022 to 2023.
Big Chief has been closed for a long time now – NYS shouldn’t have waited so long to fine them.
In July 2023, Governor Hochul said she was going to close the illegal cannabis shops. In August 2023, Big Chief was supposed to close. (Source)
In December 2023, Big Chief was still open because Gov. Hochul and our local politicians did not follow through. In other areas of NYC, politicians accompanied the police and closed the shop. Andrew Gounardes, who voted to legalize weed did nothing. AG James issued this document in December 2023. (See news)
NYS will gobble up any part of the fine that is paid – Bay Ridge won’t see a penny of that money. Some of that money should go to the community where the business was able to operate illegally.
The illegal shops created a mess of our community. How many families left Bay Ridge because these shops were allowed to remain open?

February 12, 2025GoFundMe for Gregory Fernandez’s Family
Gregory Fernandez died in a fire at his apartment at 510 – 80th Street at 3:30 am on Sunday, February 9, 2025. He was only 38-years-old.
A GoFundMe was set up to help with the cost of his funeral and help his family, his wife, Alexa and their two-year-old son. (See here) They were brought to the hospital and are stable.
Gregory was a Navy Veteran. (Source) He was also a basketball coach at St. Ephrem’s. where his stepdaughter attended school. She was not home when the fire happened.
