Drink a Beer to Win a $50 Bar Tab at Irish Haven
On Sunday, March 16th at 6:00 pm, head down to Irish Haven Bar at 5721 – 4th Avenue in Sunset Park for a beer-drinking competition in which you can win a $50 tab at Irish Haven.
This is not a speed drinking competition – this is one with skill. You have to split the G in Guinness. It’s explained well here:
On Monday, March 17th, Irish Haven will open at 8:00 am to begin the St. Patrick’s Day celebration.

High Dankery is Opening on 5th Ave in Bay Ridge

Another cannabis dispensary hung their sign in Bay Ridge. High Dankery hung their sign at 7815 – 5th Avenue.
I wasn’t familiar with the term “dankery” for “marijuana dealer.”
High Dankery has not received a NYS license yet.
This weed dispensary is allowed to set up next door to Tutor Time Daycare because the daycare is on the 2nd floor of the building. The NYS Law says that the school/daycare has to occupy the whole building. The entrance, where parents put their strollers is right there on the first floor:
Senator Andrew Gounardes must have felt that this was okay because he did not change the law. Community Board 10 couldn’t fight back because Gounardes did not make sure the law was correct and give communities oversight in situations like this.
The owner of High Dankery appeared at the December Community Board 10 Meeting and was very straightforward. Info here:
Another Cannabis Dispensary is Trying to Open in Bay Ridge
At least this owner showed up for the Community Board meeting – the other one didn’t. When someone gets a liquor license they show up to the community board meeting to get approved.
While many of you may have wanted a different type of business here, Senator Andrew Gounardes wants dispensaries in our community. If Andrew didn’t, he would have increased the distance that dispensaries could be added to a community.
At a Community Board 10 Meeting, it was revealed that these dispensaries are targeting older, white women. Why didn’t Senator Gounardes know this? By now Senator Gounardes should have taken action so our seniors are not targeted!

Package Thief Was Wearing an Orange Reflective Vest on 95th Street in Bay Ridge
Around noon today, a man was wearing an orange reflective vest and stealing packages from neighbors on 95th Street between 3rd and 4th Avenues. Silvia shared that the man was traveling in a silver Nissan Centra.
If you see him in action, please call 911. The 68th Precinct is responding to these calls now.

Port Said Sea Food Egyptian Restaurant is coming to 6909 – 3rd Avenue in Bay Ridge.
This new restaurant is opening where South Brooklyn Foundry used to be.

Today, a small, white dog that is well-groomed was found on 67th Street & 6th Avenue.

Borough Park is Rallying Against the Homeless Shelter Planned for 50th Street
On Thursday, March 13th at 1:00 pm. Heshy Tishler is having a protest against the homeless shelter being set up on 50th Street and 10th Avenue in Borough Park. Tisler is also running for NYC Council.
This is for a family shelter (not a shelter for 150, like other parts of Brooklyn are receiving.
