Someone probably thought it would be funny to fool people with a floating mannequin. But thank goodness it was a mannequin and not a person!

March 10, 2025Richie Barsamian for NYC Council – District 47
‘

Richie Barsamian is running for NYC Council to represent Bay Ridge Dyker Heights, Bath Beach, Gravesend, Coney Island and Sea Gate.

His focus points are fantastic:

When Richie initially announced he was running for office, even people that went to school with him from elementary school wrote nice things about him.

One of the things Ritchie stressed was that he wanted to hear from everyone. He knows our current councilman doesn’t listen to everyone. Ritchie wants everyone to be able to share their ideas.

The primary election is on June 24, 2025. Early voting for the primary is from June 14th to June 22nd.

March 9, 2025Coney Island Meeting About the Casino on Monday, March 10, 2025 at Borough Hall

Coney Island residents have stood up and said that a casino will hurt their community.
On Monday, March 10th at 6:00 pm, there will be a ULURP meeting to determine if the streets will be changed for a casino. Although the people have said no, politicians like Justin Brannan were lobbied and is not standing with the people.

The developer desiring a casino has been in Coney Island for years and has done very little in the community. This developer could have done a lot more to show he was serious about adding value to the community.

March 8, 2025We Can’t Celebrate Women’s Day When Four Women Were Raped in Our Area Since 1/1/25

Politicians made cute graphics about International Women’s Day or Woman’s History Month.
We don’t need cute graphics.
We need politicians who can speak to the police and public about rape. Are the rapists being caught and arrested? Why are there no descriptions of any of these men being released to the public?
You can see the statistics here. When I shared this statistic to Senator Gounardes, he censored me on Facebook. Andrew Gounardes doesn’t want you to see the rape statistics for our community.
The post shows no comments because Andrew Gounardes does not want to speak up for women and believes in censorship.

March 8, 2025Teens Driving Recklessly in Bay Ridge

A few people wrote about teens driving recklessly in Bay Ridge. Some Ridgites questioned them because they had not see the reckless driving that was described.
We wouldn’t have believe it either because the teens around here are really good (compared to the way teens were years ago).
Right before 3:00 pm, we were driving on 4th Avenue. Approaching us were two fast moving cars – one in the lane next to us going in the opposite direction (which was correct). The other was driving towards us in our lane. The two cars were racing each other and banging into each other’s side. We thought it was a one-time occurrence.
Weeks later, the same thing happened around 3:10 pm on 4th Avenue in the mid 70’s. The drivers weren’t speeding, but they were playing chicken and driving next to each other. Their car handles hit into each other’s doors. I looked at the drivers this time. They appeared to be 16 – 18 years old. I called 911 this time.
The police aren’t patrolling so the teens know they can get away with it on 4th Avenue.

March 7, 2025The Lockyard in Bay Ridge Closed

The Lockyard is at 9221 – 5th Avenue. I saw the photo above this afternoon and I was surprised. Turn the page?
Their last day is Sunday, March 9th. If you missed it, they shared pics (here) and made a group (here)
I heard about The Lockyard closing, but I thought it was just for renovations. A group of Ridgites were meeting at The Lockyard to play chess and they told me they had to find a new place because it was going to be closed and there was going to be new management at Lockyard.
Then there was this:

I called The Lockyard and asked if the place was sold. A staffer said they were working on it and nothing had been announced yet.
Lockyard has been open for almost twelve years. Many people held celebrations there because people love the Locktard’s backyard.

The windows were covered over with black plastic and the Lockyard sign was removed from the storefront.
