Electric charging stations were installed in the lot next to New Utrecht Library at 1743 – 86 street in Bensonhurst. Update: Three are working.

May 21, 2025Memorial Day Tribute – Saturday in Bay Ridge – Open to the Public
There is a free Memorial Day Event at Fort Hamilton Senior Recreation Center at 9941 Fort Hamilton Parkway on Saturday, May 24th from 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm.
They are still accepting sign ups for anyone who would like to speak at the event – poems, tributes, etc. If you would like to speak, call 718-439-4295 to have your name put on the list.
This event is open to the public. If you are not a member, you will need to fill out a waiver to be in the building.

May 20, 2025Andrew Gounardes’ Donut Party in Albany
This September, some students in our area were not able to attend the afterschool program at their school because of NYS budget cuts. Senator Andrew Gounardes failed to tell the families or get the money restored.
Today, Andrew Gounardes shared that he brought 25 boxes of donuts to Albany (over 300 donuts). Why are we sending him to Albany to throw a donut party?
In the Fall, Gounardes went to Somos in Puerto Rico and spent $844.00 for meals at a restaurant. Money just keeps flowing, but there is none for afterschool.
Seven years ago, Gounardes said he was going to work on fair property taxes, but he failed to do anything about property taxes.
Why is there unlimited money for politicians?

Brooklyn had a special election today to fill an empty seat.
Sam Sutton won District 22 – Borough Park’s NYS Senate seat tonight. He is the first Sephardic Jew elected to the State Senate!

Rita Conte, the owner of Italian Records on 18th Avenue died last week. Condolences to her children.
Rita’s shop, The Italian Record Store on 18th Avenue will be closing. Many people loved this store because they sold Italian movies, CDs, tapes, vinyl, Italian t-shirts and gifts.

Nikki T shared the photo below. She saw the message on the corner of 69th Street and Colonial Road.
The sweet prom proposal leaves everyone wondering, “Did Caitlyn say yes to Miles?” Someone has to know them – fill us in Bay Ridge!
Since the message was near Xaverian High School, she may be student there.
