Credit Card Compromised EEEKKK
I received a letter from my credit card telling me that one of the merchants I shopped with detected unauthorized access to its data files. STRESSSSSSSSS
First thoughts were that I was shocked because I only use sites that have the https and have a verified SSL (Secured Socket Layer). I called the credit card company and asked them with merchant has the problem. The customer service representative said that they couldn’t tell me which merchant this happened with or how long ago it happened (It could be months ago). The only thing that they could tell me was that there as a fraud alert on my account. Niceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee protect the merchant with poor security.
So I hung up, called back and canceled the card. No one will use the account then. The rep sounded so surprised that I would close it for this reason.
I also have a fraud alert added to my credit report. Sigh.
** Hours later, I realized that this situation could have been a lot worse. I’m very fortunate not to have been harmed. Thank God.

I can’t tell you how incredible I feel right now. I have been reading the Bible for just over a month now. I’ve learned a lot of lessons. I’ve prayed to God for myself and for so many other people.
Tonight, He responded so clearly to a question that has been in mind for awhile.
I couldn’t be more grateful to Him for continuing to pursue me all of these years.
So if you are in doubt about something and you happen to be reading this, know that God hears you and is answering your prayer as well.

You know there are many people in Brooklyn who don’t know how to park. So of course the Internet has the answer to this problem. This website allows you to take a picture of the parked car and then leave the driver a little love note to go see the picture. teehee

July 28, 2008Two strange things & Giveaway
There are plenty of strange things going around in the world but these two are this weeks:
1. A friend of mine has a dog who had cancer in the leg. He was advised by two vets to have the dogs leg amputated. After having a biopsy at one vet’s office, the dog went home and opened the leg. He ripped out the cancer lump and ate it. The cancer hasn’t come back and the dog is in good health.
2. During the summer, I hardly sleep. I love being awake, doing stuff, praying and reading. At 2:30 am – 4:30 am, I keep looking over my shoulder because I could swear someone is moving back and forth. Or maybe they aren’t and it’s just me remembering psychic, Sylvia Brown saying something about spirits walking around then.

Dogs are washed and have fresh haircuts.
I cleaned for hours yesterday. I was upset over the news I heard for a man I never met (Randy Pausch). Cancer seems to wipe out so many people. Like many people, I want to see a cure for it soon. So I clean like crazy when I can’t do anything else.

July 25, 2008RIP Randy Pausch
Randy Pausch, former professor and author of the Last Lecture died this morning. The charming Professor Pausch inspired millions of people to evaluate their life and their priorities. Over 3 million people have watched his Last Lecture on You Tube. He spent his last days living his life to the fullest with his family.
When I heard the last lecture, I was surprised and inspired by these words: “I don’t know how to not have fun, I’m dying and I’m having fun. And I’m going to keep having fun every day I have left. Because there’s no other way to play it.” I guess I just wanted him to be the one who survived cancer.

July 25, 2008Randy Pausch – hospice
From his website: 7/24 The cancer is progressing: A biopsy last week revealed that the cancer has progresed further than we had thought from recent PETscans. Since last week, Randy has also taken a step down and is much sicker than he had been. He’s now enrolled in hospice. He’s no longer able to post here so I’m a friend posting on his behalf because we know what many folks are watching this space for updates.
Please pray for Randy Pausch’s wife, Jai.

July 23, 2008Recipe & cell phone trick
Quinoa (pronounced Keen-wah) is a type of grain from South America. My friend’s mom makes it all of the time and I asked her for the recipe because it is really good. It is a cross between rice and couscous. Whenever I eat it, I feel full fast and I stay full for a long time.
Quinoa is a bit lower in calories than rice or couscous since 1 cup cooked (1/4 cup dry) is 160 calories. You can find it in a small bag near the boxes of tabbouleh in your grocery store. Quinoa is very easy to cook.
Some people add quinoa to salad or salad, while others make quinoa cheese gratin (not so good for the hips). You can even use quinoa in place of rice for stuffed pepper recipes. Some people even use quinoa in place of oatmeal for breakfast.
- Recipe:
- 1 cup of stock (beef, vegetable or chicken – whatever you like)
- Seasoning you like – pepper and chopped garlic for me
- 1 cup Quinoa – wash in a strainer as it may have residue that is bitter on it
Directions: In a pot place the stock and the washed quinoa. Add whatever seasoning you want. Bring the stock and quinoa to a boil, cover and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
Chop some vegetables such as 1 medium tomato and four or five scallions. Split one avocado and chop the contents (minus the pit of course). When the quinoa is ready, remove it from the heat and mix the tomato, scallions and avocado in. A half can of drained garbanzo beans are also good to add.
*I’ve also added chopped onions and peppers in with the quinoa while it’s cooking for a variation. We have cooked it with beans, frozen corn and a chopped tomatoes (no seeds) and it’s delicious.
