My friend came over tonight and brought me my dogs – as salt and peppers shakers…..way too cute!! I love how the black dog is being annoyingly cute.

Hello Privet House!

I recently stopped into Target and saw their collaboration with the Privet House store. I loved a lot of their items and think they are great for affordable rustic decorating.

I love their galvanized lanterns. I just got a lantern for my birthday, but if I didn’t I would have picked up this one.

Cute Pillows

Affordable servingware – I have pieces like this from PB and the wire basket from C&B

And cute frames and chalkboards

The Queen of the Click is not in anyway associated with Target.  I’m just a customer who likes their new stuff.

21 Google Tricks

Everyone loves Google Tricks!  Here’s 21 I’ve collected:

1.  At google.com type:  do a barrel roll and watch the screen as you type it

2. At google type: google gravity  (choose first link)

3. At google type: tilt  and then search.  This also works for the word askew and search

4. At google type:  google sphere – choose the first link.  Then do  a search for troll face.

5. Type: google underwater (choose the 4th or 5th link down with the Chinese symbols). After it loads, try doing a search for hotdog or the troll face….if you keep tapping ‘enter’ more and more items will enter the water.

A Birthday Gift with Another Purpose

A friend gave me this ring sculpture. I absolutely love it. Several months ago, while we walked through Crate and Barrel, I admired it. I loved that it is made of metal and is so simple. My friend remembered how much I liked it and bought it for my birthday.  I placed it on the sofa table and admired it.

When I came home from school today, Lee had the ring on the floor and was calling the dog with treats to jump through the ring.

So much for my elegant ring sitting on the sofa table!

A Great Weekend

Mother’s Day was fantastic. We were going to go to brunch, but gave our reservations away to friends who really needed a day out. We had family over and the men cooked. Lee made meatballs stuffed with fresh mozzarella and pasta. OMG so good. It was a beautiful day and fun to celebrate with family.

The day before I celebrated my birthday. It was a really great day. Friends hung out here in the afternoon and Lee and I went to a great restaurant in the city – One If By Land, Two If By Sea. I didn’t cook all weekend!

I look forward to more beautiful and relaxing weekends!

Having All You Need

I just celebrated another birthday.  The week before my birthday, Lee kept asking me what I wanted for a present. I told him I would think about it. And although I thought about it, there just wasn’t anything I needed or wanted.

I have everything.

I saw on the deck on Saturday morning and I thought to myself…..this is what it feels like to have everything you want. Birds sang and the sun beamed on my face. I wanted to hold on to this moment. There’s been so many times in my life when I needed things and people too. But for now I have everything.

Later that day, I told Lee about my recent realization……he laughed and said, “you’ve always had everything…..you just realized it now!”

Half Lifetime Friendships

I have a wonderful friend I met in college who sent me a package today. I didn’t open the package because the note that came with the package said not to open it until a certain date. Regardless of the contents, I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your friendship.

You often joke about Karen having ‘the title’ of my best friend or as you refer to her ‘bestie.’     Friendships that have lasted half a lifetime are definitely worth a couple of quarters. So I bestow on you a new title HLF – my friend for half a lifetime. It’s not as cute as bestie, but it’s better than nothing, right?  :)

Ditto Oprah

Oprah tweeted today:

Today’s challenge is to thank someone who taught you something.

A few minutes later Oprah tweeted:

I would like to thank the ppl who’ve brought me those dark moments, when I felt most wounded, betrayed. You have been my greatest teachers.

And then Oprah tweeted:

The greatest learning for me usually happens in times of distress, pain, suffering.

Yup. Ditto.
