August 3, 2012Johnny’s Pizza in Brooklyn
When I was in a preteen, everyone went to Johnny’s to get a slice and gossip. And when old friends get together on a warm summer night, nothing is better than reminiscing about Johnny’s while eating Johnny’s pizza.

August 1, 2012Bay Ridge Sinkhole 8/1/12
Bay Ridge has another sink hole reported around 4:30 pm – by 6pm this evening the firemen and police had the area surrounded – August 1, 2012. The hole is located on 79th Street between 4th and 5th Avenue. This time the 20 ft deep hole with a 20 feet wide diameter. One car fell in – no one was hurt and the fire department has moved everyone out of the area. What is causing the sink holes in Brooklyn? The last sink hole happened on 92nd Street outside of Starbucks.

July 31, 2012Abortion Wouldn’t Exist if this Picture Was Across the Street from Abortion Clinics
The National Right to Life organization needs to hire better public relations people. Woman who were thinking of having an abortion would probably rethink their decision. Because there is no doubt that is a baby.

July 30, 2012Make It Monday
I’m linking up with the Tara at the Fourth Grade Folics Blog for the Make It Monday Linky Party.

When I saw the pencil on pinterest, I thought it had to be a writing process pencil. I am going to put it on a bulletin board with the steps to the writing process. Why yes, that is glitter on the burlap and glitter on the wooden letters too! I love glitter.

The wooden letters are from Michaels. I think they were $6.99 or$7.99 for 250 letters (plus I used a good coupon at Michaels). I don’t see the letters on Michaels site, but Amazon has them here.
Have a great Make It Monday!
Cupcake is from Dream Like Magic’s etsy sample.

July 29, 2012The Olympics are Hard to Watch
For me, the Olympics are just so hard to watch. The television screen fills with images of smiling, determined young people trying to show they are the best at their sport. They compete in their event which probably feels like 20 minutes to them, but is actually a minute or two minute for spectators to watch. And then they are either victorious or severely defeated. And that’s it – there are no second chances.
Today we watched Jordyn Wieber, an American gymnast lose her chance at winning a gold in all around. Why? Because the rules changed and no longer are the top 24 gymnasts competing, but now the top two from each country have qualified to compete. Jordyn will still have a chance at a medal in the floor routine, but her Olympic dream of winning all around went out the window tonight. And as the crowd cheered for Aly Raisman and Gabby Douglas, my heart hurt for Jordyn. Here’s a young woman who trained her whole life for this moment to shine. And in an instant it was over and reporters were asking her how she felt. Jordyn attempted to duck out into a corridor while her team went to the television reporters, but she was told she wasn’t allowed out that way. We watched Aly Raisman beam with happiness over her win, while Jordyn sobbed in the background. I wish that the reporters had been more sensitive to Weiber and not talked to her or even filmed her.

July 27, 2012Fabulous Finds Friday
Happy Friday! I’m linking up with Elizabeth at Fun in Room 4B Blog because last week she shared her circle cutter as a Fabulous Find and I bought it. It is fabulous. You can see it here.
A lot of teachers write and ask me about the owl vinyl decal because they search for owl classroom in google and it’s the first picture they find. The owl actually was purchased to cover a whole in the wall (look to the right side of his eye and you can see a little bit of paint chipping there. I got him from the Scribble iT Etsy Shop.
I wanted owls and soft colors to keep the room calm for my middle schoolers. I found some awesome items with owls made by a company called Renewing Minds and sold at Mardel. Mardel is having a 20% off sale this week (no code needed – prices marked).
I got these cute owl folders (12 for $5.00)
This border: ($3.19)

So the Mardel store online would be my Fabulous Find this week. I saw they also have other themes that I know many teachers have this year – stars and zebra print.

Even zebra print scissors

I am not in any way affiliated with Mardel. This was the first time I saw & shopped on their site. It is a Christian Education store. BTW, Mardel ships very fast and I was so excited to get my items so quickly.
