March 4, 2016Does Paula Katinas Think Bay Ridge’s Republican Party is Desperate and We Need to Look to Staten Island for a Candidate?
Why does The Brooklyn Eagle Reporter, Paula Katinas think the Republican Party in Bay Ridge is SO desperate that it needs a Staten Island resident to run and represent us in Bay Ridge? Is Paula Katinas telling us that Bay Ridge is in a position like Coney Island was in 2013, when they didn’t have a rep. candidate and Andy Sullivan went to run against Mark Treyger? I would think there are several Ridgites who would be interested in the position!
I live in Bay Ridge and when I go to the Brooklyn Eagle’s website – Bay Ridge section, I should see stories about my community. Instead, I see stories about people who live in another borough. Our current elected officials must not be doing much as this reporter, Paula Katinas continues to give away the Bay Ridge news space to a Staten Island resident.
Katinas entitled the article: “Capano Offers Ideas on How the GOP Can Win.” Yet, Ms. Katinas failed to mention that Capano lost two elections in Bay Ridge in 2008 and 2009 and also withdrew from an election in 2003. How does Ms. Katinas think that a two-time election loser could advise the Republican Party on how to win an election? In addition, Capano has worked as a campaign manager to Eric Ulrich who also lost his political run, so that makes the title even more ridiculous! Doesn’t Ms. Katinas owe Bay Ridge the truth about Robert Capano’s background? She could have put a small blurb at the bottom of the article explaining Capano’s political background in Bay Ridge, but she didn’t.
I’m not sure if Ms. Katinas was present for the meeting that Robert Capano spoke at. The picture published with the article was provided by Bob Capano. If Katinas went, won’t she have taken a picture for her article? Basically, the man could have sent in a press release and it could have been turned into an article. But should The Brooklyn Eagle have printed it? If The Brooklyn Eagle had a Staten Island edition, then the story would be relevant, but this is a Brooklyn paper and it should be about our residents. The Home Reporter didn’t run any stories about this man because he isn’t news in Brooklyn. Capano had to purchase space in their paper to be included in it. Like I said, I don’t know if this is a press release. I have written to reporters and editors of all our local papers and asked them to stop printing press releases and print the news because the politicians in our area think they can fill the newspapers with worthless press releases when they aren’t doing what they should be doing for us.
Since the newspapers won’t tell us who Bob Capano is, we went to the web. Robert Capano doesn’t have a Linkedin account (there’s just four listed on Linkedin)- nothing listed for Bob Capano either (that shows us a lot right there) and there are just small blurbs about him on different webpages.

February 28, 2016Senator Golden’s Heroin and Opiod Addiction Meeting in Bay Ridge
Who is David Bochner? Bochner works at Cornerstone Treatment Center in Fresh Meadows. His facility seems to have some serious issues (which is noted on this page too and here too) Why would a man from Queens come speak at a Brooklyn event and recommend that a drug facility be put in an urban area where families with children live? Senator Golden did not object to what Mr. Bochner said. It is strange that Mr. Bochner spoke about putting a facility in our backyard when we already have DYC in Coney Island. There are plenty of detox places in Brooklyn already. Why is this Senator pushing more detox centers? I think it’s very strange that Senator Golden invited Bochner.
If anything was going to be done about the drug problem in our area of Brooklyn, Senator Golden would have been holding the meeting with other local pols like Senator Diane Savino, who is also part of the Joint Senate Task Force on Heroin and Opiod Addiction. Golden has been speaking about the heroin problem since 2014 – He hasn’t done much to get ahead of the problem. Really Golden can’t because the 68th Precinct patrolling and walking around on foot and that doesn’t happen because our PO’s in our area are being lent out. Why would the Captain allow our officers to be lent out when he doesn’t have enough officers on staff?
Golden and two other senators who ran the meeting this week are on the NY Joint Senate Task Force on Heroin and Opiod Addiction and they said their focus was to “examine the issues facing communities in the wake of increased heroin abuse.” In 2014, this Senate Committee did similiar meetings and released this report. The 2014 report shows bills the senate passed, but it’s apparent the situation isn’t any better. These senators threw together a few meetings in diverse areas of NY – Brooklyn, Penn Yan and Yates County, NY and now they can write the 2016 report that they informed the public.
At the end of the meeting, Golden says he will pass legislation and get money for detox. So no mention of getting the drug dealers off the street this time, Marty? In 2012, our local paper posted about the problem – In 2015, people left comments on the same story because no one is doing anything about the drug dealers on their street. Golden has a Facebook – Have you ever seen Golden ask residents to report drug dealing on their block to his office so he can get it to the 68th Precinct?” I haven’t.
The first part of the meeting is here

February 14, 2016Sorry Malliotakis We’re Not Interested in Your Empty Suit
Although I am usually interested in politics, the Republican debates don’t interest me. After the last debate when Marco Rubio just kept repeating himself like a robot, I wondered if Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis had taken the time to talk to Rubio and find out enough about him. An average man could have spoken better than Rubio did.
Then I saw her tweet this morning and realized what her support is about.
I’m not surprised Rubio is a robot candidate. If Rubio was a good choice for president, Donald Trump would not be part of the election at this time.
