Two Muslim Mothers Attacked in Brooklyn

Two Muslim mothers were attacked in Brooklyn. People stop wasting your time hating people you don’t know. Find something to do with yourself that makes you happy.  Emirjeta Xhelili, a 32 year old woman from Bath Beach, Brooklyn tried to take a hijab off of a mother – that’s just crazy. Here’s the story:

Mark Treyger Lives Behind Gates

mark treyger

Councilman Ari Kagan announced that Treyger moved to Seagate in the comments on the Kings County Politics blog (a look on NYC Acris does show a home purchase was made). Kagan was responding to people questioning if Treyger even lives in the area he is running for a position. This is the second time Mark Treyger moved into an area so he could be on a ballot.

Seagate is a private, gated community on the tip of Coney Island in Brooklyn. It has it’s own police department staffed by peace officers and retired NYPD.

What does that say about the area Treyger represents? It tells us that the area is not safe.

Before taking office, Treyger  promised he was going to work on security. (See his ad)

In 2015, Treyger  blamed DeBlasio for not providing enough police to his gun infested area. In 2016, why didn’t Treyger do something about it? Where are his initiatives to get guns off the street and secure his neighborhood?

Treyger failed to use his discretionary funds to do anything to make Coney Island more safe.

While Treyger boasts that his students live in that area, he doesn’t do anything for their safety.

When there is an incident of violence, Treyger is either silent or he babbles on Facebook to sound concerned like this:

mark treyger jabbering

A gated community and a private police department are what Treyger needed to feel safe.

For the rest of Coney Island, TOO BAD, you are on your own!

Mark Treyger – $26 Won’t Change Classrooms

school supplies

This Spring, City Councilman Mark Treyger pushed out a press release to local papers because he wanted to announce that  he made a huge increase to Teacher’s Choice. The article began: “One small step for educators…..”   Yes, it actually said that.

Every year, teachers receive a check in the Fall to purchase supplies for their classroom. This program is called Teacher’s Choice.  Most teacher spend several hundred dollars on their classroom and students throughout the year.

In 2003, NYC Teachers received $200 to purchase classroom supplies. In 2007, teachers received $220 through Teacher’s Choice.

When the city had budget cuts, Teacher’s Choice was lowered significantly. In 2010, Teachers Choice was $110 dollars per teacher. It has slowly increased over the last few years.  In 2016,  $122 was allocated.

While Treyger boasts that he was a teacher, he hasn’t done much for education! This years allocation is just $148 – an increase of only $26.

$26 will purchase a bit more paper.

If a classroom has 32 students, a teacher couldn’t even purchase a class set of notebooks from the 99 Cents Store with this year’s increase.  NYC Council gave themselves a 32 percent salary increase this year ($112,500 to $148,500), but they couldn’t restore Teacher’s Choice to $200.

Each teacher in NYC must account for the money given to them through Teacher’s Choice by listing the items and attaching the receipts. Mark Treyger gave $40K to a not-for-profit that has been questioned in the newspapers and Treyger can’t provide any evidence that money was handled correctly (no cancelled checks from recipients).

The UFT might as well get rid of their lobbyists as $26 per teacher isn’t worth doing somersaults over.  The newspaper coverage of the $26 increase shows us that Mark Treyger hasn’t done much for education.

*Thankfully many PTAs have stepped in to provide their teachers with extra funds for their classroom. But many are not able to do that and NYC Council should have made a real effort to restoring Teacher’s Choice.

*Politicians are playing with money, but most people want to help students and teachers. If you are a teacher, try Donors Choose for classroom projects.

Pam Harris Response to Bay Ridge Issues was VERY Delayed

Assemblywoman Pam Harris likes to take pictures and have parties. She even had a birthday party fundraiser for herself.

Yet, Pam Harris doesn’t like to do the real work of being a leader in our community .  I have contacted her in the past and she didn’t respond.

Today I will show you how slow Assemblywoman Harris was to respond to Bay Ridge. Harris’ response time was around 21 hours after the resident made a post for help – long after others leaders handled the situation.

Verrazano Bridge Jumper – August 30, 2016

bridge

The lower part of the Verrazano Bridge was closed earlier today because someone jumped from the Brooklyn side of the Verrazano Bridge today.   See story   The 37 year old man’s body was pulled from the water and he was brought to the hospital.

Prayers for the jumper and those he left behind.

I don’t understand why a fence can’t be put  around this bridge to deter very sad people. This is the fourth jumper this Summer and  third jumper this month!

Last Monday, a 17 year old from Brooklyn went on the Upper Level of the Bridge was saved after he called 911 saying he was going to jump  (story here). At the beginning of August, 27 year old, Joshua Milinazzo committed suicide on the bridge (story here). It seems like such an easy solution to this problem.  The man power, grief and disruption a suicide from this bridge causes has to be worth the cost of a bridge.

Look at all the people who have jumped since 2011.

Bob Capano on Cats Roundtable Let’s Us Know He is Owned!

bob capano you tube

Who is Bob Capano? You can see Bob Capano in Gristedes YouTube Videos

Recently Bob Capano went on Cats Roundtable.  While the Brooklyn Independent Fountainhead Blog will tell you what he wants you to hear, we are going to talk about the real issues here.  Capano works as the store manager for  Gristedes grocery store which is owned by John Catsimatidis. Catsimatidis is also a businessman and invests in property. He purchased a foreclosed piece of property in Coney Island.  We heard Catsimatidis mock Councilman Mark Treyger on Cats Roundtable.  Capano can’t represent Bay Ridge in any capacity because he would just be a pawn in getting zoning laws changed for developers in NYC.

No one is really sure what position Bob Capano is running for or who is supporting him. Capano already ran for Assembly and lost BY  A LOT.

Bob Capano also ran for  City Council and lost by a lot  – 60% to 40%.

Bob Capano Brooklyn election

BAY RIDGE HAS SAID NO TO CAPANO, yet someone keeps throwing money at him to run here. WHY? Because someone wants something in Bay Ridge.

Bob Capano

On the Cats Roundtable,  Catsimatidis  began by saying twice that Capano was running for the 43rd ASSEMBLY district, I went to see where the 43rd Assembly district was.  The 43rd Assembly district is a position held by Diane Richardson around Union Street in Brooklyn. After hearing Cats say it twice, Capano did not correct him. Bob Capano either doesn’t know there is a difference or he was afraid to correct his boss.  (Listen at 12:55 on Cats Roundtable Show).  I think Catsimatidis meant to say the 43rd Council District as Vinnie Gentile’s position will be open next year.

Capano had difficulty speaking fluently and stumbled through his speech as if he was reading a paper like a 5th grader giving their first speech. Was that because he was on his boss’ show?

Catsimatidis and Capano are now banging “the homeless person drum” because everyone is tired of them clamoring on about the plastic bag tax.  Remember the bag tax that Gentile opposed because he knew it would harm the elderly? Even after the issue was over, Bob Capano kept going on about it because he works with plastic bags daily at Cat’s store.

At the end of Capano’s speech on Cats Radio Show, Capano happily mentioned his former boss, disgraced Vito Fossella. Fossella was arrested for drunk driving and had a secret family.

Who is Bob Capano? A Staten Islander who serves on the Staten Island GOP County Committee. If he was a Brooklynite, he would serve on something here. For as long as I have owned a home here in Bay Ridge (7 years), Capano has not been here in any capacity.  Bob Capano and his wife own a home in Staten Island. His wife works in Staten Island and is established there (google her name). She isn’t going to move to Bay Ridge, live in a small apartment and pay a high toll to go to work each day (Staten Island Residents get a huge break on the Verrazano Bridge, but Brooklyn residents don’t).  Does Capano think people are dumb enough to believe that? As a Staten Islander, Capano doesn’t see any of the real issues affecting Bay Ridge.

Capano wants the $145,000 salary and obviously the Staten Island Republicans aren’t  interested in him representing them.

For some reason Capano thinks the Republican Party in Brooklyn is desperate and doesn’t have a candidate here.   I hope this isn’t Bay Ridge’s Republican party’s candidate as he doesn’t represent the people here in Bay Ridge. If Capano happens to be the Republican Party’s candidate, they should get a new District leader.

Cocoa Grinder Owner in Bay Ridge Teaches About Forgiveness

Abdul Elenani, owner of Cocoa Grinder coffee shop in Bay Ridge was robbed. He posted this letter on the store (see words below picture)

cocoa grinder bay ridge

His letter reads:

Through this door you came & through this door I write!

Dear John/Jane Doe,

Hope this letter finds you and your family well. What happened on the night of the 17th of August was a mistake and not cool. After hearing about all the restaurants getting robbed and broken into on a weekly basis then Cocoa Grinders turn came around that night made me just stop to write you and hopefully you read it.

If you were to ask me personally “Would you rob to survive?” I’d say “I’m better off not surviving and of course not be a reason to mess up some ones day or life” but of course at the end of the day everyone has their own personal opinion. Well sir/madam, I didn’t report this and I didn’t check the cameras to see who you are. I’d rather just not know. If the money you stole was to better you and your family’s living, then I forgive you. If it was stolen for you to go out there and ruin yourself and health, I still forgive you and ask of you to fix yourself.

“Every human being commits sins, and the best of sinners are those who frequently repent.”

– Prophet Muhammad

“You do not do evil to those who do evil to you, but you deal with them with forgiveness and kindness.”

– Prophet Muhammad

With love,
Abdul Elenani

_______________________________________

What an incredible letter! Store owners in Bay Ridge want Elenani to report it so that police can keep records/see the video.

Abdul forgave the thief immediately.

May he be blessed a thousand times for showing so much empathy and kindness.

So True: “You do not do evil to those who do evil to you, but you deal with them with forgiveness and kindness.”
