Police Stopped The Drivers Doing Donuts in Bay Ridge on July 5th at 2:50 am

Early this morning around 2:50 am, the police closed off part of Shore Road because people were doing donuts with their cars.
As you can see many police cars blocked one side of the street. Look in the back of the photo and you can see the NYPD had a garbage truck block the other side of 4th Avenue.

July 5, 2025Afterschool Funding is At Risk for Our Area
Last year, Senator Andrew Gounardes didn’t tell us that the state had cut funding to afterschool programs. Gounardes failed to take action and did not stand with the parents when they protested the cuts.
This year, NIA has announced that federal funding may not be available for afterschool programs at PS 30, PS 176 and PS 204. There is a petition here:

Senator Steve Chan inducted Daniel Luciano into the NY State Veterans Hall of Fame.
Senator Chan wrote: “Daniel was a young soldier in the US Army, assigned to the demilitarized zone in Korea when he was exposed to an unknown chemical that caused a lifetime of debilitating ailments and conditions. As the result, Daniel was honorably discharged as a 100% Disabled American Veteran. On behalf of the people of the State of New York, I thank Daniel Luciano and his family for his service and sacrifice.”
It’s nice to see this!
We need more leaders like Steve Chan, who are out in the community with the people!

O’Sullivan’s at 8902 – 3rd Avenue has been under construction for a few weeks now. Ridgites say it is becoming a doctor’s office.
Two years ago, the building sold for $1.9 Million.

The NY Post has an article today about sex offenders living in homeless shelters. Families who live nearby no longer use the local parks. See article: https://is.gd/zxJlAC
This is why so many NYC residents speak up against the all male homeless shelters in their community (instead of shelters for families). Something is not regulated correctly with this.

Calling All Teen Animal Lovers!
Sean Casey Animal Rescue is looking for two pairs of responsible, outgoing volunteers (age 16+) to help them host puppy parties in the rescue yard this Summer!
This would involve one weekend day per week (12:00 –3:00 pm) in Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn now through the end of Summer
What you’ll do:
Help set up and host puppy parties
Greet and speak with potential adopters
Clean up after the pups
Learn handling tips and best practices (training provided)

July 4, 2025New Utrecht Reformed Church Needs Help With Their Flagpole
The New Utrecht Reformed Church on 18th Avenue needs help with their flag and flagpole.
The last time they put up the flag was on May 31st and they took it down that evening. They need six people to put the flag. The ropes on the flagpole are not good and they need someone to help replace them.
Today, July 4th, they didn’t have a flag up.

July 4, 2025Fantastic Four Movie is Advertising All Over Because Their New Movie is Coming Out 7/25
Ridgites saw this logo written in the sky this morning over 3rd Avenue. Later in the afternoon, this symbol was seen over 86th Street and 4th Avenue:
Marvel Comic lovers immediately recognized the symbol and realized it was advertising for the Fabulous Four Movie which is coming out on July 25, 2025.
Residents in Bensonhurst saw a Four being drawn in the sky as well. During the Nathan’s Hotdog Eating contest in Coney Island, thousands of people saw Marvel’s symbol in the sky!

July 4, 2025Power Flashing and Off in Dyker Heights
Dyker Heights residents are not happy that their power is flashing off and then turning back on.
Several people mentioned that this power problem is hurting their air conditioning units, refrigerators, and pool motors and pumps.
Every year when it gets hot, Con Edison is not able to provide enough power to the area.
