Bay Ridge Political Forum – October 4th

The Bay Ridge Inter-agency Council on Aging will be hosting a political forum on Wednesday, October 4th from 9 AM to 12 PM at the Fort Hamilton Senior Center located at 9941 Fort Hamilton Parkway.

Candidates for Mayor were invited:

• Reform Party Sal Albanese
• Democrat Mayor Bil de Blasio,
• Independent Bo Dietl.
• Republican/Conservative Nicole Malliotakis

Borough President candidates that may come:

• Democrat BP Eric Adams
• Republican Vito Bruno
• Reform Party and Libertarian Ben Kissel

City Council (43 CD) candidates:

Strangely the debate  forgot to name John Bruno and put John Quaglione down as the Conservative candidate….. has John Bruno slipped out as the placeholder candidate?    More info here  John Quaglione told a reporter it was going to go down like this, which is strange because now the Conservatives Party is trying to control our election. If John Bruno received an offer to be a judge, then that would be considered normal, BUT THIS WAS PLANNED and everyone has been talking about it for months.

• Reform Party Robert Capano.

Adults volunteers are needed in Bay Ridge on Wednesday at Saint Anselm to help out at the food pantry.

Volunteers are also needed to help out on Wednesday or Friday night at Saint Anthanasius with the Youth Ministry.

Saint Francis Animal Blessing at Churches in Bay Ridge or Nearby

• October 1st – Saint Patrick’s Church – Blessing at 12:00 pm on the lawn.

• October 1st – Saint Ephrem Blessing for Animals at 2pm by the Blessed Mary statue at 929 Bay Ridge Parkway 

• October 4th – Saint Athanasius  – Blessing of the Animals is at 6:30 pm in the parking lot 2154 – 61st Street

• October 4th – Saint Finbar Animal Blessing at 7:30 pm inside the church.

• October 7th – Our Lady of Angels is having a St. Francis Animal Blessing on October 7th at 12:00 pm in the Flower Pot Yard – 73rd Street and Fourth Avenue. Bring your pets.  

• October 7th – Saint Anselm Church is also having the Blessing of the Animals on October 7th – 82nd and Fourth Avenue after the 11:00 am mass.

• October 8th –   Good Shepherd Church  7420 – 4th Avenue.  10:45 am.  Each pet will receive an “I am blessed” tag and a copy of the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi.

There was NOT a Fire at McKinley Junior High School

Tar was being placed on the roof of McKinley Junior High School last night. The steam from the tar made it look like smoke coming from the roof of the school and someone called it into the fire department.

A video  entitled “Fire at McKinley School”  was taken last night when fire trucks appeared outside the school, but there was no fire. (Thank you to the person who called it in – it’s good to know people are looking out for the neighborhood).
