August 17, 2025Justin Brannan and Robert Carroll Call for Electricity to Be Cut Off at a Federal Building

Councilman Justin Brannan and Assemblyman Robert Carroll held a strange presser today in Manhattan.

These two politicians want Kathy Hochul to cut the electricity off at the Immigration office at 26 Federal Plaza.

Sadly, this looks like another publicity stunt because the polticians didn’t think this through.

Besides having the immigration office, 26 Federal Plaza has offices for these agencies:
Social Security
US Court of International Trade
General Services Administration
Department of Health & Human Services
Governor Kathy Hochul isn’t going turn off the electricity to a federal building that provides many services OR to start a war with Trump.

The politicians should have advocated for the immigrants by either changing the law about checking in at that office (make it remote through a Zoom meeting) or provide more legal assistance to the immigrants.

August 17, 202518th Avenue Feast – Two Police Officers Maced

People were enjoying a beautiful night at the 18th Avenue Feast on Saturday night after a perfect beach day.
Then the neighborhood saw police cars race to 18th Avenue. Everyone knew something terrible had happened in the 62nd Precinct.
Sadly, two teen girls had a fight and the police had to break it up. The girls continued to hit each other, even when a police officer was holding them. Festival attendees gathered around to watch the fight.

Then two men maced two police officers at the St. Rosalie Feast.
Around the same time at 7116 – 18th Avenue (71st Street), there was smoke in an apartment building that was being investigated (more emergency response vehicles to the area).

I couldn’t find any news about it this morning. For the last few years, the police have had to amp up patrols at the 18th Avenue Feast. It’s a good event, but there are always a few people trying to ruin things for everyone else.
Update: News 12 did a small story here:
