December 10, 2017John Quaglione Spent $18,000 at Senator Golden’s Family Business
Last week I shared an article about John Quaglione spending 13K at Marty Golden’s family business during the election. HE ACTUALLY SPENT $18,000 – story here. SMH. Quaglione participated in the matching funds program so he was given taxpayers money for the campaign. SMH. Then I saw this online:
When I noticed the difference in the two amounts, I wrote to the author about it. He told me that an additional campaign finance filing came in with another $5000.
The newer article also had this snazzy graphic by Jeff Boyer:
How many local papers will mention that Quaglione spent that much money at Golden’s family business? So far none.
- Why was so much spent on parties? It’s not a Sweet 16 or a wedding – it’s an election – have some snacks and a drink and move on.
- What changed from the last election? I don’t remember John Quaglione having parties at Marty’s family place last year. Actually I remember him using local restaurants.
- What if that money was spent at several businesses in Bay Ridge and that helped a few businesses flourish before the holiday season?
John Orlando, spokesman for the Quaglione spoke about why the Manor was chosen, but John Orlando doesn’t realize that Quaglione broadcasted some events online and people saw that catering hall wasn’t always needed.
While Quaglione has spent taxpayers matching funds at his bosses place, he is complaining on Twitter about an elected representative spending “too much money.” He loves pointing the finger around.

December 9, 2017Socialists Holiday Meetup in Bay Ridge
The Bay Ridge Socialists invite all to their holiday get together at Owl’s Head Wine Bar on Sunday, December 10th from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Come and drink a glass of wine and have casual conversation about the changes that have happened this past year (and those to come!). Owl’s Head Wine Bar is at 479 – 74th Street
.
On this occasion they will also be hosting a card-making party for LGBTQ prisoners. The holidays can be a challenging and lonely time when you’re locked up and away from loved ones. (Seriously, that is nice.)
We’ll be decorating and sending holiday cards to LGBTQ folks who are currently in prison – with a goal of sending 40 cards – so we’d love to have your help! There will be a lot of card-making supplies.
Please bring a friend or two.
