RIP James Gottlieb

This was left in the comments:  Memorial Fund here

Funeral Mass – Thursday, February 15th at 10:30 am Our Lady of Angels Church

Clavin Funeral Parlor  7722 4th Avenue – February 14th 2-4 pm  and 7-9 pm

I just heard that James Gottlieb died.  The world went quiet as I remembered James and the last time I spoke to him.

I knew James long before I moved to Bay Ridge. I think everyone who went out in Bay Ridge knew him. James always had a great stories to tell, usually about people in Bay Ridge. When I would run into people from Bay Ridge that I didn’t know, they would name people they knew and everyone named James Gottlieb.

James was a kind person who loved his family. Whenever I would see him, James would show me  pictures, as he was proud to be an uncle. James was proud of being Irish and loved to celebrate St. Patty’s Day.

Over the past few years, James had experienced the deaths of several key people in his life. He lost his mother and then the following year, his brother died. My family had experienced the same with my father and brother’s deaths in successive years. When I talked to James after his brother died, I told him that we would have a lot of people in heaven waiting for us. He told me I wasn’t going to get in and each time I ran into him, he jokingly reminded me of this.

RIP James. I’m sure your Mom and brother met you.  You left this world way too soon. Prayers for James family.

Tough Guys Organize a Protest, But Don’t Show

Today there was supposed to be a protest outside Pam Harris’ closed office. Yes, the Brooklyn Teen Republican Club organized a protest when Harris’ office was closed.  The tough guys were going to tell the office gates that Pam was corrupt. But they were no shows for their own protest. The weather was cloudy and there was a bit of a drizzle earlier.

It looks like many of the people who said they were going to the protest were men who didn’t win a council seat in November. Some of these men aren’t even from this district.

Brooklyn Canine Club – Dog Daycare in Bay Ridge

Sadly, this business closed quietly.

Brooklyn Canine Club opened at 8209 5th Avenue (formerly Sabrina Day Spa – this spa had this problem and it also got caught for prostitution).  It’s a doggie daycare for Bay Ridge.  I had seen the signs up since last August and I was wondering what was going to open there.

$15 for up to 3 hours of play

$25 for up to six hours

$40 for 6-12 hours

This is a nice addition for Bay Ridge.    [email protected]

They also do baths, ear cleaning and teeth cleaning.

Bay Ridge Socialist Meeting – February 12th

Source

The Bay Ridge Socialists have a meeting on February 12th. They could have gone with a Valentine’s theme, but they don’t really like change (proof).

The meeting is at Union Church – 7915 Ridge Blvd – from 7 to 9 pm on February 12th.
