Car Hit a Child in Bay Ridge + 5/2 Update

On June 4, 2018, another boy was hit by a car in Bay Ridge – see here.

May 2nd Update: Kobe is in a medically induced coma. Friends started a GoFundMe account to help his parents.

Earlier today, a 10 year old boy child was playing and got hit by a car on 84th Street between Fort Hamilton and 5th Avenue. The child was in critical condition (very serious hit). No criminal investigation as it was an accident. The accident took place mid-block.

Prayers for the boy and his family.

News.

4/30 Update:   The boy is in a medical induced coma and in the intensive care unit. He’s in critical condition but is expected to survive. He has suffered a lot of trauma to his face and head. We are all praying he pulls through. Please continue praying for him.

Warning do not watch – Adam West’s video – police at the scene at 6:30 pm tonight:

Independent Bookstore Day – Important for BR

You never heard of Independent Bookstore Day? Yes, in a neighborhood like ours, Independent Bookstore Day is important. Our local bookstore, The Bookmark Shoppe is a gem and a real hub in this neighborhood. It’s at 8413 – 3rd Avenue.

I love that Andrew Gounardes, candidate for State Senate against Marty Golden considered this an important enough day to note on social media. Senator Golden failed to mention the day and I don’t see Senator Golden doing anything to help small businesses in our neighborhood (many shops are closing due to the expenses of high rents, etc). They need a tax break.

The celebrities that The Bookmark Shoppe is able to bring to this neighborhood on their author tours is awesome and is a big part of our neighborhood.  They are celebrating Independent Bookstore Day with discounts for us – so stop in.

Senator Golden’s Worthless Press Conference

Yesterday at 6:30 pm, Senator Golden announced the press conference for today on his Facebook page.

Today Golden was in front of the prospective hotel site with a few members of the Bay Ridge Community Council. *Remember these community members called for the first visit to this location. They were there again today with their signs while Golden was having this presser. Why doesn’t Ralph tell Golden to stop the nonsense and do his job?

Maybe the Bay Ridge Community Council is fooled by Golden playing politics, but most people in Bay Ridge are not. These Bay Ridge residents must have asked Golden for an update and Golden fooled them by having a press conference. WHY HASN’T SENATOR GOLDEN MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO MEET THE DEVELOPER YET?

The developer doesn’t live in this community and isn’t going to see the pictures of Golden in the local papers. Everyone knows that. Who called the press for this worthless presser?

In March, journalist, Megan McGoldrick reached out to the developer and had no difficulty speaking to him about the plans for the hotel.

Senator Golden is obviously having communications problems at his office as he is neither able to contact the developer or respond to this resident, who has tried to meet with Golden for two months to discuss funds for education.  Mallory McMahon is being told that Golden is soooooo busy and can’t meet with her.

We are all tired of Senator Golden playing politics.

Justin Brannan Speaks Out for Bay Ridge

The Friends NRA have had their events shut down twice. Yesterday, they held their event (possibly with the gun raffle) at the Knights of Columbus. This time the event was not advertised publically because they didn’t want to get shut down.

Justin Brannan tweeted:

Many NRA supporters and bots on twitter wrote stupid messages to Brannan, but in true Brannan-fashion, he laughed it off.

Click here and see the pictures/video of the Friends of the NRA (why are they angry if they are having a party)

Brannan then tweeted:

If you support the NRA, you can’t deny that the problem of mass shootings exists. The NRA probably has the solution to this problem, but they will make no concessions because they fear that will lead to more concessions.
