Senator Golden Doesn’t Know What to Do About Opiods.

I’ve listen to Senator Golden speak at his Opiod meetings for several years. Golden doesn’t haven’t the answer to the Opiod problem.  We haven’t seen an improvement in the drug situation in our area. Throwing money at the drug problem hasn’t solved it. Senator Golden  goes through the motions and does enough for his committee, but the reality is – there are still drugs here and the situation is growing.

We need new leadership, new ideas and solutions to the drug problem.

Here Senator Golden is asking the public to tell him how to conquer this problem because he doesn’t know. This is what Senator Golden wrote:

Ramadan Decorations at Party City

Ramadan starts on Tuesday, May 15th and ends on the evening of June 14th. This year I saw Party City had some amazing decorations for Ramadan which I have not seen in prior years.  In Bay Ridge, Bay Lady sells decorations for Ramadan!

Slow Down Bay Ridge Drivers – New Signs

Andrew Gounardes who is challenging Senator Golden has started a Go Fund me campaign for these signs to be placed throughout our neighborhood.

The first time I saw the sign, I thought, “Oh we need that here.” Drivers are crazy in Bay Ridge and will speed up one block to get to the top of the block thirty seconds faster. Although this won’t stop all drivers, the first time someone see this sign, it will make them think.

If you want a sign – chip in.   Often we feel like politicians are disconnected from the rest of the community because these accidents don’t affect them, I’m glad Andrew is DOING SOMETHING now and I know when he get elected he will make laws tighter in the community and help cyclists get around safely. There are soooo many cyclists now so something needs to be done so everyone can share the road.

Bay Ridge Hotel Plans DISAPPROVED!

While Senator Golden is sleeping, the the hotels plans for the Bay Ridge Hotel on 4th Avenue were DISAPPROVED TODAY.

You can see it for yourselves here

Tomorrow, Senator Golden will announce it after his staff reads my blog (Hi Fellas!)

Senator Golden has been a dud about the hotel issue – he hasn’t even met with the owner and he has failed PS 104

What comes next? The developer will submit another plan and we will need to wait again.

RIP Richie Capichano, Owner of C & S Jewelers

If you live in Bay Ridge, you know who Richie is. Richie owned C&S Jewelers on 3rd Avenue and 94th Street.

I didn’t know he passed away last month. I saw his store was closed and I asked the shops nearby, but they didn’t know anything. Today, I saw flowers outside and one of them told me Richie died.

I knew Richie many years before I moved to Bay Ridge. He was a good jeweler and could design anything you wanted for a fair price. When I bought my house here, I was excited to go in and tell him that I was moving nearby….but that I had no money for jewelry because I was paying a mortgage!

He also could fix any piece of jewelry and make it look like it was never broken.  Richie created a piece of jewelry exactly like a picture I drew. His prices were fair and sometimes he would throw in something extra. More important though was that he had a relationship with his customers. He remembered me every time I came in and he asked about things that we last spoke of.

RIP Richie…..you were such a sweet man and we miss you a lot!

Update 10/18 – Richie’s son posted about the store.  I noticed  Richie’s FB Page was memorialized.

I had hoped his family was going to keep the store open as he was in business for 45 years.
