Fort Hamilton Army Base Cancelled It’s Concert and Fireworks Show This Year

I saw that the Fort Hamilton Army Base cancelled their annual concert and fireworks show that was planned for June 18th.

I asked the Fort Hamilton Army Base representative why the concert and fireworks were cancelled this year.
They said that the federal hiring freeze has hurt their ability to have enough personnel to carry it out the event.
If you noticed the army base shut their back gate – that’s also because of the federal hiring freeze and not being able to have staff there to keep the base secure.
The good news is that the concert and fireworks will not be cancelled forever, but for now they have to forego it.

March 29, 2026Deliveries & Construction Work on Palm Sunday Evening at 2501 – 86th Street in Brooklyn

A blue security booth ( seen in the photo above), a porta-potty (the other blue item above), a generator and other supples were delivered by three trucks at 8:30 pm this evening (Palm Sunday) to 2501 – 86th Street, the location of the proposted homeless shelter in Bensonhurst.

Four men were working at the property tonight. The police allowed them to continue banging at 9:30 pm. Is NYC giving out permits for people to work on a Catholic holiday?

The residents of Bensonhurst came out and chanted: “No work on Sunday” and “No homeless shelter.” They do not want a transient homeless hotel for 150 men in their community. As the men worked and loud banging could be heard, the people blew whistles because they don’t have a permit to work.

There were a lot of police officers in the area.

It’s 10:00 pm and the people are still there because the people care about their community. Update: At 11:00 pm, more police officers were at the site. Update: At 12:00 am, Senator Chan said he was still on 86th Street and one person was arrested.

Senator Steve Chan and Councilwoman Susan Zhuang were standing with the people tonight. Sen. Chan called the Department of Buildings Deputy Chief and sent her pictures/video of what was happening. She said she would investigate in the morning.

March 29, 2026PS 82 is Going Up Where St. Rosalie’s Used To Be

Photo: Glenn M.
About eight years ago, St. Rosalie’s property was sold (not the current St. Rosalie’s on 65th Street and 12th Avenue), but the property on 63rd Street and 14th Avenue. It looked like this:

For years the lot was empty.

PS 82, a new middle school with 461 seats is expected to open here in September 2027. It doesn’t look like there is much space for a school year.
