Suicide in Bay Ridge – 82nd and 3rd Avenue

While the Memorial Day Parade was going on in Bay Ridge today, a woman at 315 – 82nd Street called the police. She had a knife and was upset/unstable when the police arrived. She lived on the first floor of the building, but she ran up the stairs and jumped from the back of the building.
Susan McGee Michalski, 67 was a sergeant with The Auxiliary New York Police Department’s 68th Precinct. She was a volunteer at Bravo Ambulance as a dispatcher and ambulance driver. Her husband of 32 years passed away last March – he also worked for Bravo.
She had a broken heart, as widows who have good marriages often do – see here. May these two good people who helped others, rest in peace together. Story here
Susan had a lot of people who loved and cared for her. (See here) Prayers for the Susan’s family.
Susan’s sister made this video two weeks after her sister’s death in June 2018:

May 23, 2018Senator Golden Wants the Reform Party Endorsement
Oh Fran Vella-Marone even the audience didn’t sound like they believed you when you said “Senator Golden was working for us.” See video here
But more importantly…..Senator Golden spoke of going for the Reform Party’s endorsement. Ohhhhhhh you think the Reform Party doesn’t matter. The incumbent sounds desperate for it!
Also noted, Senator Golden spoke about Ross Barkan and Andrew Gounardes, the two candidates who are running for the people of Bay Ridge. Both men are amazing and ready to represent. Check out their pages!

May 21, 2018Give Your Neighbors a Break Lonestar!
Lonestar has been mentioned at Community Board 10 meetings for several months. Their neighbors are complaining about noise from backyard bar — which extends three yards. Lonestar should have taken steps to assist their neighbors! C’mon Lonestar Give them a Break!
What’s the problem? Lonestar’s backyard and adjacent backyards are being used by the bar. See the picture which includes three outside televisions below residents windows. (in this picture it looks like there are five televisions and a bar in the backyard) WOW. I would hate to be live there.
Where is the NYPD officer for Bay Ridge? Why haven’t the police done anything to help the residents? Is it legal for the adjacent property’s backyard to be used for the bar, especially since none of those property owners applied for a license?
Here’s the bar in the daylight (and here) and the grill. Apparently, the backyard is even used in November so residents don’t get a reprieve. It’s interesting that the building department would allow those structures up against the wall where fire escapes are, but hey I don’t know much about outdoor electricity. Someone living over a bar has to expect some noise, but I wonder if residents realized they would get a lot of smoke from the grill under their windows.
Lonestar’s building is marked with the X. They are using the backyards of the two buildings on the left (the canopy belongs to them). But the pictures on their website are very telling.
Next month, Community 10 will be voting on this issue with the backyard bar. Lonestar’s owners should have gone out of their way to show respect a commitment to their neighborhood. Their neighbors should be able to have peace in the night and on the weekends.

May 20, 2018Nicole Malliotakis Starts Pandering – It’s an Election Year
We haven’t heard Nicole Malliotakis say or do much of anything this year. Remember, Malliotakis was running for Mayor and didn’t even have any messages for Community Board 10 for most of the year.
Now Malliotakis is starting to talk about transportation. Yet, Nicole Malliotakis KNOWS that Senator Marty Golden sits on the Capital Review Board and she hasn’t done anything to help the transportation problem in Bay Ridge.
On Saturday, May 19th,Nicole Malliotakis tweeted the MTA. She has to know that the MTA doesn’t have anyone working on social media on Saturday. Someone on Nicole’s staff also tweeted about the train on Saturday. Don’t these pols know how to use social media yet?
It’s pretty sad that a politician thinks a tweet is going to get things done? THIS IS WHY MALLIOTAKIS DOESN’T GET THINGS DONE.
Now the Assemblywoman wants us to believe she cares about transportation. She’s having a meeting in Staten Island, but she didn’t ask Senator Golden to be a speaker. Malliotakis seems to leave Golden out of the equation all of the time – Is she afraid to question him about his role on the MTA Capital Review Board?
Bay Ridge won’t get a meeting on transportation because Malliotakis and Golden failed to get the Verrazano bridge toll lowered. They collected names through an electronic petition (TWICE) and stood at the entrance to take pictures with the bridge in the background. They played politics and released press releases to show the pictures AND THAT WAS IT. No legislation or meetings or anything happened after that.
Why hasn’t Nicole Malliotakis done anything besides make online petitions? Nicole was busy running for Mayor and before that she was running Marco Rubio’s campaign against Donald Trump. You can’t expect her to run for mayor and be present as an assemblywoman…..just because you do so many things, doesn’t mean she can.
During the Mayoral Election, the news showed that Assemblywoman Malliotakis was a political flip-flop and she had strained relationships with colleagues. Mostly, we saw Malliotakis with a few volunteers and people she hired. Elections are a good time to make a lot of money….I guess I’ll have to talk about that soon.
