Staten Island loves Michael Grimm.  Remember, they voted for him even when he was indicted! Grimm was at the 5th Avenue Festival in Bay Ridge yesterday and people were happy to see him. Recent poll shows Grimm is in the lead – see poll info.

Senator Golden on the Cover of The Daily News

Story here

Senator Martin Golden

Of course we laughed when we saw the paper’s cover, but the story accompanying the article wasn’t great.

One of the main problems people have with Senator Golden is that he believes he is above the law because he is a senator.

For years, Golden has loaded the paper with his picture and press releases with little action for Bay Ridge, so he got his moment on the cover of the Daily News. It was his ultimate selfie moment!

We live in his Senator Golden’s area and he is no longer effective as a Senator.  The bill Senator Golden and Assemblywoman Pam Harris made was so weak, it’s ineffective – an experienced lawmaker should have done better – a lot better.  People waited over a year for that bill to come out and were disappointed when they saw it did nothing to help our area.

Senator Golden writes bills for his cronies here, tax abatements for some (no tax breaks for Bay Ridge residents) and he is known for his pay-to-play bills – see here and then see the four new bills he made this year.  This shows that Golden just doesn’t care.

Hopefully, you will join me in voting him out in November because Bay Ridge deserves someone who is concerned about this area not special interests.

Malliotakis Fundraiser Being Held at a Bay Ridge Business that is Closing Due to Tax Increases

At the end of March, it was reported that the Hall of Fame Billiards in Bay Ridge was on market. Owner, Paul Balukas told the paper that the business’s taxes were increasing $20,000 this year. Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis is having her fundraiser at that pool hall at the end of this month.

Marty Golden’s staffer announced the event on Twitter. Golden’s staffer doesn’t live in Brooklyn and he wouldn’t understand what a slap in the face this is to Bay Ridge.

Malliotakis has been pushing for online stores to not have to collect sales tax.  Seriously, online shops do not need a break – they are doing quite well because they don’t have the overhead of rent, insurance and utilities, like local stores do.

Many people in Bay Ridge do not know that Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis voted in favor of huge tax breaks for Manhattan developers. No one in Bay Ridge or Staten Island benefited from this vote.

Yet, Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis doesn’t have even one bill to help small business owners in Bay Ridge.
