Ted Ghorra is Backing Molinaro

Photo from Reporter, Vincent Barone’s tweet

I saw on Twitter that Ted Ghorra is backing Molinaro. Ghorra is the Chairman of the Brooklyn GOP.

I’m not a fan of Andrew Cuomo, so I investigated the Republican candidate awhile ago. On paper, Marc Molinaro sounds good – in person not so much.

Molinaro was in Coney Island and he didn’t answer simple questions asked by journalist, Kadia Goba. When Molinaro did answer, it sounded like he inserted a rehearsed answer. Goba is spot on her reporting of politicians.

Today Molinaro was crying on Twitter because Andrew Cuomo pointed out that Molinaro’s wife worked for a developer. Instead of pointing out all of Cuomo’s deals, Molinaro flaked out and was outraged (see video) that Cuomo mentioned his wife who is 6 months pregnant.

:: Sigh ::  Molinaro’s wife doesn’t even work for the developer any more.   Why did Marc need to be “so outraged?”

I have a feeling Molinaro has no idea who Marty Golden is either….if he did, he wouldn’t be standing next to the pay-to-play politician. Molinaro is running an anti-corruption politician and is against pay-to-play and the LLC Loophole.

What’s Filming in Bay Ridge? The Last OG 8/28

The Last OG is taping in Bay Ridge on August 28th – Colonial Road – trucks are set up – 69th Street – see here.

Residents can’t park cars after 10 pm on August 27th

The Last OG is on TBS on Tuesday nights and features Tracy Morgan, Tiffany Haddish and Cedric the Entertainer. See here

Be sure to thank Senator Marty Golden for giving tax breaks to the film industry who are taking your parking spots AGAIN. (Seriously, why didn’t Senator Golden have the common sense to cancel alternate side parking when they are filming on a street….it’s not a big deal to do, but would help residents who are driving around for an hour+ looking for parking)

If John Liu is Against the IDC, Why Did He Endorse a IDC Supported Candidate in Brooklyn?

John Liu endorsed Ethan Lustig-Elgrably IDC Supported Candidate

Do you remember the name John Liu? Yup, John Liu’s the former NYC Comptroller who was fined $26,000 for donation fraud during his failed run for mayor.  John Liu’s two campaign staffers went to jail. (See here and here

While Liu was Comptroller, there was this snafu with Liu’s staffer and the senior citizen lunch program. There’s so little about this online, but there is this.

Now John Liu is running for a senate seat in Queens. He’s in an election against Tony Avella, whose a member of the IDC.  (Story here)

Yet, John Liu endorsed a candidate in our Ethan Lustig-Elgrably who has been supported by thousands of dollars from Senator Diane Savino of the IDC.   Ethan is running for the NYS Assembly seat.  See the money flow here.

John Liu didn’t think anyone would notice that his endorsement or that he’s playing politics in our backyard.

John Liu hangs out at the Shorefront Democratic Club as does Senator Diane Savino from the IDC. Diane Savino has been dating Jeff Klein, the head of the IDC for years. If you are from Liu’s campaign, you know this type of endorsement was John Liu playing politics in our backyard.

Saperstein Told Us Golden is Responsible for Empty Storefronts in Bay Ridge

Journalist, Kadia Goba asked the three Assembly candidates about what they would do about the empty storefronts in Bay Ridge (see here).

This is a great question because we have way too many stores closed on the Avenues.

Dr. Frontus had the most detailed answer. She said she would:

    • Provide state funding to expand programs like the New York Empowerment Zone in the district

    • Give tax credits to the landlords who own the properties along those avenues (for up to 10 years, so that they do not have to overcharge their tenants).

    • Low-interest start-up / revolving loans for new small businesses.

    • Give state grants to the Chamber of Commerce so that they can make sure that small businesses have the support they need

Ethan’s answer is here – Ethan claims to use social media, he made a Twitter account this month and hasn’t used it. See here. Ethan Lustig was Councilman Mark Treyger’s staffer and he watched as Treyger threw more money at Pam Harris. Ethan didn’t speak up then and he won’t speak up now.

Most surprising was Steve Saperstein’s answer.

Saperstein said, “Part of the reason why Bay Ridge (and the rest of the State) is struggling with empty storefronts and hurting businesses is thanks to our State’s insane regulatory climate and tax burden.”

Saperstein is one of the first politicians to say that our current state politicians – Marty Golden and Nicole Malliotakis have failed the small businesses in Bay Ridge.

Why didn’t Marty Golden help the Third Avenue Merchants with a tax break? What changed about Senator Golden?

Senator Golden wrote the bill to given tax breaks to developers in Manhattan – why not in his own area where owners are struggling?

Saperstein continued: “I will fight to make the property tax system in N.Y. fair and fight to lower the unfair State taxes imposed on businesses.”

Why didn’t Golden and Malliotakis fight for the store owners?

The Third and Fifth Avenue Merchants must be fuming at Senator Marty Golden and Nicole Malliotakis. For years, the two of them claimed to be fighting for the Merchants. And for years we have seen a high turnover and even many long-time Bay Ridge businesses have closed.

I didn’t think Saperstein would call out Republican politicians like that, but it seems he is tired of their nonsense too.
