TACHS Test Prep – Bay Ridge
TACHS is the Test (for) Admission (into) Catholic High Schools. Register for the test here.
St. Patrick’s in Bay Ridge is offering a 10-session test prep course for the TACHS test.
The course is open to 8th grade students enrolled in all schools (not just St. Pats or Catholic school).
Cost: $300 includes a review book. Advance registration and payment in full is required.

September 13, 2018Election Day and Snakes
I don’t support Democrats or Republicans, I look for candidates who support Bay Ridge and don’t have ties to the IDC or Mark Treyger. Treyger pushed Pam Harris on us and then cried about people complaining about Harris. After the FBI took her out in cuffs and right before she plead guilty, Treyger was still defending her.
Treyger pushed Nancy Tong, his friend for many years, to run in our city council election. Tong didn’t live in this district, but jumped in the election anyway. Treyger saw we had Brannan and he would not back away. Tong and her family put up their time and resources for the election. Can you imagine having a friend that awful? Did Nancy know she was just a pawn in the Treyger saga?
Now Nancy Tong, Treyger, Ragusa, IDC Senator Savino and Corey Johnson are pushing another one of Treyger’s cronies. How does the man even run in the election when he knows Dr. Frontus is more qualified?
BTW, when is Frank Seddio being voted out? I see your money Seddio….you weren’t brave enough to throw out an endorsement in my area but I see your that’s right Seddio I see your money pushing a candidate funded by the IDC…..it’s time for Seddio to go.

September 11, 2018RIP Grei Frasheri

He had his whole life ahead of him…..Grei Frasheri was just 23 years old.
On August 25th, Grei updated his Facebook page with the picture above. 23 – ready to take on the world.
Weeks later…he’s gone. On September 7th before 6:00 pm, Grei was shot and killed on 93rd Street and 4th Avenue in Bay Ridge. The assailant took off in an Uber. Info here.

September 11, 2018Discounts for Voters in Bay Ridge on 9/13
Fight Back Bay Ridge has partnered with Bay Ridge Businesses. Businesses in Bay Ridge will be giving discounts on Election Day – September 13th, when a voter shows their “I Voted” Sticker.
Participating stores will have the blue sign (seen in the pictures of the Bookmark Shoppe above). FBBR also promoted the stores on Twitter.
Here is a list of the stores in Bay Ridge that are participating in the Voter Discounts – You can even get a beer for $2.00

Great position for a high school student!
You will:
- Meet curators and learn about our collections
- Connect with education staff and get trained to teach from objects in our collections
- Assist with family programs like F.A.M. (Family Art Magic), Creativity Lab, and art-making activities at Target First Saturdays
- Develop tours and teach camp groups over the summer
- Learn about education programming in a museum setting
- Build your communication, planning, and teaching skills
- Strengthen your sense of teamwork, time management, and responsibility
Get paid $13 per hour until December 2018, then $15 per hour starting January 2019. Returning Apprentices will be paid $14 per hour until December 2018, then $16 per hour starting January 2019. Work up to 222 hours for the year!
To apply, you need to be 1) a high school student, 2) at least fourteen years old, and 3) able to commit to the work schedule below, which takes place October through August.
During the 2018–19 school year:
- Thursdays: 5–7 pm
- Saturdays: 2 Target First Saturdays sessions, 4:45–9 pm
- Sundays: 2 F.A.M. (Family Art Magic) workshops, 10 am–4 pm, and 2 Creativity Lab workshops, 3:30–6:30 pm
- Weekends: family events and pop-up talks, to be determined
During summer 2019:
- Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays: 10 am–4 pm
How to apply:
- Submit an online application between now and September 23.
