There is a cookie decorating class on Saturday, October 13th at Choc Oh Lot Plus at 7911 – 5th Avenue in Bay Ridge from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm – $35 per person includes all supplies. This class is for older children 12 and up.

*The owner of this shop made Sweet Sally Sunshine pops and sold them to raise money for the Kabel Family. We are lucky to have good shops like this in our neighborhood.

October 9, 2018Rosemary Mangino Handed the Election to Abbate Tonight
Tonight, Peter Abbate wasn’t asleep as he and the audience kept laughing when Rosemary Mangino, his Republican candidate was speaking at the Dyker Heights Civic Association. (See Abbate holding back laughter to be polite and not get yelled at by her)
Rosemary Maniano took it hard when they weren’t accepting of her Conservative/Religious views. (See Kadia Goba’s video). Mangino regards herself as a pro-life feminist and doesn’t believe in a woman’s right to choose.
Well Peter Abbate will easily be elected to office. In 2016, Rosemary Mangino ran as a Republican against him and received only 24% of the vote.
Why didn’t the Republican Party put up someone who could take the seat? A moderate Republican easily could have won over this community since there is a large Republican population in Dyker Heights. Stop running the same people over and over.

October 9, 2018Marty Golden’s Handouts are Translated? His Wife Said Translation was a Waste of Money.
WOW Marty Golden translated his handout in Chinese symbols.
Bay Ridge residents know this is a big step for Marty, as Senator Golden’s wife, Colleen was very against translating items into other languages because she believes it is a waste of money. She said, “English everyone!!!!”
Colleen Golden posted the above rant in response to a Facebook post by a Republican who was running for a County Committee position. The Republican Committee member commented about his name being translated on the ballot. Colleen Golden replied that translating the ballot was a waste of money and she used a lot of exclamation points to express her anger with the city wasting money on translation. Mrs. Golden wrote: You live here and should read it (English) and write it. (10 exclamation points)
Mrs. Golden also wrote, “Our Country is starving and the city is wasting money on ballots.”
Senator Golden’s wife blamed Mayor de Blasio for offering the translation on the ballots and “wasting money to do it.” After this appeared online, Senator Golden didn’t say anything. Senator Golden was silent.

Andrew Gounardes wasn’t running for office back then. As an attorney, Gounardes was easily able to quote the law. And Andrew Gounardes was not afraid to speak out against nonsense that is said in this community or written online. Online “discussions” like this hurt the next generation in our community. They don’t understand why Mrs. Golden would purposely try to exclude their families with the “English only” comments.
No one goes through life without the assistance of other people at some point. Learning to read and write English takes a long time, so I am glad their is help for people at the polls.

I knew Andrew Gounardes’ campaign picked up quite a bit. I didn’t realize the Republicans in other parts of the state are scrambling.

October 8, 2018Gounardes and Golden Debate Tomorrow at Dyker Heights Civic Association
On Tuesday, October 8th the Dyker Heights Civic Association 1072 80th Street will hold a debate with the following candidates. The Dyker Heights Civic Association post is very unclear about who will be debating.
- Andrew Gounardes and Marty Golden will debate for the Senate Seat
- Dr. Mathylde Frontus and Steven Saperstein will debate for the 46th Assembly seat
- Peter Abbate vs Rosemary Mangano for the 49th Assembly seat
Kadia Goba wrote that Fran Vella- Marrone will moderate the debate. Fran should not be moderating the debate as she is now head of the Brooklyn Conservative Party and has made endorsements in this year’s elections. The Dyker Heights Civic Association should immediately seek an alternative moderator.
Later this week, you can see Max Rose and Dan Donovan duke it out at Xaverian High School – that Debate is being sponsored by the The Bay Ridge Community Council. And there is a debate in Staten Island sponsored by Channel 1 News that you can register for.
