Happy New Year Bay Ridge!
Happy New Year, Bay Ridge neighbors!
This message will go live on 12:00 am in case anyone stops by. I wrote this a few days ago because I’m spending time with family and some close friends. Thank you for reading this blog, offering us advice and sending in so many events!
Moments aren’t taken for granted around here since Lee had cancer. He’s cancer-free and everyone hugs him a bit longer because we know how lucky we are.

It’s been an amazing year! If you are reading this, Dan Donovan and Marty Golden are no longer our representatives. I am so thankful to everyone in this neighborhood who worked towards getting regular people to represent us, especially Fight Back Bay Ridge. I’m grateful to the honest reporters who got the truth out there. Mathylde Frontus is the real deal – she’s going to be a great Assemblywoman. We know Andrew Gounardes will do the right thing as the Senator for Bay Ridge. And we feel very lucky to have Justin Brannan as our Councilman.
Take it easy this year Bay Ridge….I hope your year is filled with good news, happy moments and fun!

Leticia James was sworn in as the new Attorney General ! James is a graduate of Fort Hamilton High School.

She’s someone who has walked the walked and first hand I can tell you she fought in Downtown Brooklyn for small business owners, while other politicians sided with developers.
Senator Andrew Gounardes is also a graduate of Fort Hamilton High School. He will be having his inauguration at FHHS on January – everyone is invited – see invitation and RSVP here.

December 30, 2018The Painted Pot in Bay Ridge is Closing 1/31/19

Painted Pot is at 8009 3rd Avenue. If you have never gone, you still have a month to go try it. Sorry to see this charming place is closing.
If you are seeing this after January 2019 and the store has closed, there are two other locations in Brooklyn – one in Park Slope 200 7th Ave and the other in Downtown Brooklyn at 229 Smith Street.

December 29, 2018Nicole Malliotakis Called Out by Senator Golden’s Wife for Taking Credit for Lockbox Legislation
People thanked Nicole Malliotakis on Twitter for the Lockbox Legislation that Cuomo signed into effect.
Yet, Nicole Malliotakis’ name isn’t on the Lockbox Legislation. When Senator Golden talked about that bill this Summer, I went to read the bill. Golden sponsored the bill with Jeffrey Dinowitz, an Assemblyman from the Bronx. Nicole Malliotakis’ name isn’t even listed as a co-sponsor of the bill:
On Twitter, Malliotakis shared a video from 2014 showing she talked about the lock box legislation (t. And then people begin to thank Malliotakis for the lock box legislation…yet she didn’t even have her name on it!

Nicole Malliotakis actually believes that she had something to do with this 2018 legislation. You will see she didn’t thank Golden or any of the Assembly members on the bill. Colleen Golden, Senator Golden’s wife doesn’t know that Nicole was never part of the legislation as she tweeted: “Thanks also goes to Senator Golden who advocated for this also.”
Malliotakis didn’t respond to Golden’s wife. Over the years, Nicole Malliotakis never once called out Marty Golden for serving on the MTA Capital Review Board for years and allowing cosmetic projects to take precedence over a functioning train.
Now here’s where it gets real strange. Jerry Kassar, Golden’s Chief of Staff knows Malliotakis is not part of this legislation, but he likes Malliotakis so he puts out this tweet:
Kassar clearly is playing politics as he would need to thank a lot more people for advocating for lock box legislation for years, before he thanked Nicole Malliotakis.
Update: Journalist, Kadia Goba tweeted this:

Nicole isn’t running for Public Advocate, so what is she running for? Hopefully, she isn’t being divisive and announcing a run against Max Rose when Rose hasn’t even been inaugurated yet. The Staten Island Republican Party will only let her run if they have no one else.

December 29, 2018Warning – 70th Street Mailbox – Ft. Hamilton
![]()
Update: A new mailbox was installed here.
I started mailing my mail at the Post Office a few months ago because there was talk of a someone “mailbox fishing.” Some people said that mail thieves were trying to get checks that people send to utility companies/pay bills, so they could make their own and write checks from people’s accounts. Story here
Today, a resident who used a mailbox at 70th Street and Fort Hamilton Parkway in Dyker Heights noticed that her mail was getting stuck to the inside lip of the box (as if someone placed something sticky to catch the mail)
This resident also noted that mail she has sent out has not reached the person or places it was supposed to go to.

December 29, 2018Marty Golden’s Strange Final Letter
Senator Marty Golden sent us his last letter as a Senator. Why did our tax money need to be wasted on mailing out a letter? Move on Marty!
Of course I found discrepancies in his letter. Marty thought no one was going to read it because it is the holiday season.

December 29, 2018Abandoned Plecostemous in Bay Ridge
One social media source told about the abandoned plecostemous on Marine Ave at Fort Hamilton Parkway in Bay Ridge Brooklyn. Some meanie put this fish out in the cold when he is supposed to be in 70-80 degree water.
On another social media platform, a resident talked about finding the pleco, bringing it home and keeping it warm. There’s a lot of good people in Bay Ridge! Other residents offered advice to the new owner and he set up the tank for the pleco.
Morale of the story: Don’t put your pet out on the street. Offer him to people on Facebook or Craigslist like everyone else does. There’s a lot of animal lovers in Bay Ridge!

Update – January 12th: The man who took the fish home shared another picture of the great setup he made for his new pet!
