Congressman Max Rose Refuses Pay During Shutdown
Glad to see new Congressman, Max Rose refused pay during the shutdown. I wish there was a way to get salary reinstated for government workers, especially staff who don’t get paid well.
We don’t want to see family’s get hurt because Trump is playing politics.

The Pottery Barn in the Roosevelt Field Mall closing. We were trying to think of stores that are like Pottery Barn or alternatives to Pottery Barn because there aren’t a lot of housewares or furniture stores in Brooklyn that we love. Of course there is no alternative to the real Pottery Barn.

- Some of Target’s items look like Pottery Barn, but I haven’t purchased it. A lot of their summer outdoor patio furniture and baby furniture look the same as Pottery Barn. PB sued Target over this in 2006.
- Sears also has another shop called The Great Indoors, but I haven’t bought anything there yet.
- World Market has rustic furniture and it’s not too expensive.

Six years ago, I bought furniture from Furniture.com and their delivery was fast. Friends bought furniture from Overstock.com (because of the $2.95 shipping) NYC people, be aware that Overstock’s delivery is only curbside delivery and they will not bring it into your house, even with a big tip.I used to shop at The Bombay Company, The Storehouse and Smith & Hawken for outdoor items, but all have gone out of business.I also find discount coupons or codes & free shipping codes for these stores at Retail Me Not.Shopping when items are on sale also helps!

On January 6, treat yourself to a morning of muffins, mimosas, & manifesting. In this VISION BOARD WORKSHOP you’ll create a visual representation for the life you want to live. The collage will serve as your image of the future and it will represent your dreams, goals, and ideal life.
All supplies will be provided, but if you already have images you know you’d like on your board, please bring them with you.
This workshop will take place on Sunday, January 6th from 9:30 a.m.- 11:30 a.m. at the Bookmark Shoppe in Bay Ridge.

Happy New Year, Bay Ridge neighbors!
This message will go live on 12:00 am in case anyone stops by. I wrote this a few days ago because I’m spending time with family and some close friends. Thank you for reading this blog, offering us advice and sending in so many events!
Moments aren’t taken for granted around here since Lee had cancer. He’s cancer-free and everyone hugs him a bit longer because we know how lucky we are.
It’s been an amazing year! If you are reading this, Dan Donovan and Marty Golden are no longer our representatives. I am so thankful to everyone in this neighborhood who worked towards getting regular people to represent us, especially Fight Back Bay Ridge. I’m grateful to the honest reporters who got the truth out there. Mathylde Frontus is the real deal – she’s going to be a great Assemblywoman. We know Andrew Gounardes will do the right thing as the Senator for Bay Ridge. And we feel very lucky to have Justin Brannan as our Councilman.
Take it easy this year Bay Ridge….I hope your year is filled with good news, happy moments and fun!
