Seven Star Bakery Closed: Greek Bakery on 86th Street

Seven Star Greek Bakery closed. It was at 280 – 86th Street next to Casa Calamari (off 3rd Avenue).
Last month, I asked her if she was closing. She looked away and said that she didn’t know. I knew when I left it would be the last time we had her sweets. Happy Retirement. We’re going to miss you.
Later, people said the landlord raised the rent (their expenses have gone up with the crazy property taxes here)
The woman who worked for her had retired and the bakery was a lot of work, but she enjoyed baking for this community for many years. Although I am not Greek, those I love are and when I would ask them what to bring to their home, they would always say spinach pies and sweets from 7 Star.
Where can I get Greek spinach pies now?
The Greek Bakaliko on 5th Avenue and 77th Street has good frozen spinach pies by Titan.
Goustaro makes the best tasting spinach pie.

The fireworks have moved South this year (see the red X near the Brooklyn Bridge). The fireworks will be shot from four barges in the the East River between Broad Street and the Brooklyn Bridge
You should be able to see some from the end of the 69th Street pier in Bay Ridge. A better spot would be Brooklyn Bridge Park.
Most Brooklynites like to go to Coney Island for a full fireworks show!

March 4, 2019Nicole Malliotakis Doesn’t Have an Office in Bay Ridg…..Four Months Later
On Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis’ website today, March 4th, she lists 7408 – 5th Avenue as her office
![]()
Marty Golden closed that office at the end of December because he was not re-elected in the November election.
Nicole Malliotakis has known for almost four months that she needed to get a new office.
Bob Capano made a fuss about a new Congressmember not having an office, yet he will not say anything to the absent Assemblywoman.
![]()
Capano revels in being quoted in an article about AOC not having an office, so I am sure he would love to be asked about Malliotakis’s non-existent office.
![]()
If Nicole Malliotakis doesn’t have an office, how is she hearing from the Brooklyn community?
A resident said that Nicole Malliotakis didn’t have enough funds to open two offices. Yet newcomer, Assemblywoman Mathylde Frontus did. Dr. Frontus has only been an Assemblywoman for a short time and has two functioning offices – one in Bay Ridge and the other in Coney Island.
By now Nicole Malliotakis should have:
a) Rented a desk in her area of Bay Ridge
b) Annouced hours that she is available at that desk
c) Adjusted her new address and times available on her website so residents have access to her
d) Shown up at the CB 10 Meeting and announced her new location/times available
Instead, Nicole Malliotakis plays on Twitter with Eric Ulrich or continues to run a campaign against Mayor de Blasio, as if the election didn’t happen.
