April 7, 2019Holiday Rush – Filming in Bay Ridge
What is filming in Bay Ridge on April 8th, 9th, 10th?
Signs are up along Shore Road so residents can’t park. Holiday Rush is filming here from April 8th – 10th.
Residents with cars are not happy as the city has not made any plan – to cancel alternate side or provide a parking garage to residents. There should be some provisions made when they are on our streets – cause let’s face it, there are a lot of filming crews here (rather than in other NYC neighborhoods).
We purchased a home that they filmed the movie, Margaret in. The former owners were reimbursed well, so there is no reason NYC or the crews can’t provide residents alternate parking (let them rent the St. Anselm lot and hire an overnight attendant).

Christ Church at in Bay Ridge went live with their sermon. How modern!
Christ Church is at 7301 Ridge Blvd.
One thing I noticed is that a lot of great people in our community who go to Christ Church.
The church has an amazing scouting program because the Girl Scout and Boy Scout Troop Leaders are adults who are invested in our community. Their scouts do some amazing community service projects in Bay Ridge – they are very hands on and their service projects fill real needs.

Remember the old Hyundai car dealership at 8901 – 5th Avenue?
It’s set to become a medical office with retail on the ground floor. They put up scaffolding around the building so they can begin construction.
I’m glad to see more places opening here! Good luck to the new owners!

Assemblywoman Mathylde Frontus takes care of both sides of her district.
The Bay Ridge Senior Center received $100,000 and a Coney Island Apprenticeship Program Received $100,000.

April 6, 2019Spring is Bringing New Stores to Bay Ridge
We saw the new Gourmet Fresh banner hanging over the old Associated Grocery Store in Bay Ridge at 530 86th Street that closed a few months ago.
Woohoo Gourmet Fresh is coming to Bay Ridge. They expect to be open by June! Gourmet Fresh is also in Downtown Brooklyn.
Residents will be glad to have a grocery store back in that area!

April 6, 2019Malliotakis Failed to Follow Through on Illegal Home Conversions
Two years ago, Nicole Malliotakis said the city needed to be more aggressive in collecting fines from illegal home conversions and fines.
THEN NOTHING HAPPENED EXCEPT…. Nicole Malliotakis supported a candidate for NYS Assembly last November (Steve Saperstein) that took money from developers. (See here)
That recorded press release is strange because some of the people standing in the video/photo were paid members of Malliotakis’ election staff. See here
Bob Casara,head of Brooklyn HPA in Dyker Heights spoke out against developers:
It’s strange that Brooklyn Conservative Party leader, Fran Vella-Marone and NYS Conservative Party Leader, Gerald Kassar won’t hold Malliotakis to her word. Gerard Kassar should be asking: Why hasn’t Nicole Malliotakis done anything after speaking out against this in 2017?
Why do political parties keep supporting empty suit candidates instead of seeking out ones which will?
