When residents objected to Nicole Malliotakis’ post on social media, she edited it to this:
The NYPD doesn’t need to wonder who is saying that MURDER is happening in Brooklyn.
Malliotakis doesn’t care if she is fear-mongering. It’s part of her social media persona ( See here) and hands-off approach in our neighborhood. She is rarely in Brooklyn unless it is for a photo-op – she hasn’t had an office in Bay Ridge for five months so residents can’t walk in and ask for help (and some residents in this community are not online as they are senior citizens).

Community Education Council District 20 will be hosting a forum on April 17th to discuss — Teen Vaping.
The statistics of teen e-cigarette use are staggering and the number of students becoming addicted to these products is unacceptable. We who waged a war on cigarettes must once again, do everything in our power to combat this unconscionable assault on the adolescents of our community.
We would ask your help in vigorously advertising this forum to our Community; in schools, at community centers and anywhere else you might reach our families. Parents need to become educated about Vaping, and we hope this forum will help us take a large leap forward in addressing this threat to our children.

April 11, 2019Time for Salad Coming to Bay Ridge
Updated: December 2019: We stopped in to grab lunch at Time for Salad. Their salads are delicious and they have a lot of great warm toppings to add to them.
They also have soup! They had three varieties when we went: vegetable soup, red lentil and golden lentil soups. The soup is $3.99 plus tax and it is delicious!
Time for Salad will be opening at 480 – 86th Street – in the old Nothing Fits spot.
Ridgites have been waiting for a salad shop (like Baby Olive) for awhile.

Jerry the Mouse popped up in Bay Ridge in 2018 on 77th Street off Third Avenue.
It’s on the side of Kim & Yim Tailor – Sewing & Alterations at 311- 77th Street.
I always smile at this whimsical painting on the side of a building.
Yet, I didn’t notice Alex Smetsky’s name until recently.

Malliotakis decided to write a letter to the NYPD Chief of Transit and Own Monaghan telling (they are CC’ed on the bottom). The Assemblywoman told them how to do their job.
Where do you think this letter went?
Why didn’t she call the man up instead of trying to embarrass the police on social media?
Nicole Malliotakis could have met with the police and discussed this, but that would involve work. Her she has a staff write a letter and then posts it on social media to make you think she did something.
Malliotakis is notorious for pointing the finger and silly social media outbursts like this. Real solutions – not so much.

On April 14th at the Bay Ridge Jewish Center at 6:30 pm, Holocaust survivor, Werner Reich will discuss his book “The Death Camp Magicians.”
Reich wrote about his time spent in Auschwitz & his magician friend.
John Jay, a magician will join Reich. Free.
