June 30, 2019Protest Outside Max Rose’s Office in Bay Ridge 7/2

Residents are invited to gather on Tuesday, July 2nd at 4:00 pm outside of Congressman Max Rose’s Brooklyn Office at 8302 3rd Avenue. Residents will be protesting Rose’s stance on border concentration camps and atrocities against children.
Residents want Congressman Rose to:
1) Close the camps
2) Not fund the family detention centers
3) Reunite families
On Thursday, June 27th, Max Rose voted in support of the the $4.5 billion package, which included provisions about migrant children. (See bill). This is funding ice and border patrols. Money is not the reason for the poor treatment of at these camps at the border.
Many members of the House of Representatives voted for the bill (102 who didn’t – AOC being one of them).
Progressives and others wanted a better bill to prevent these camps.

Homes on 92nd Street and Battery Avenue in Bay Ridge have lost power.
Residents are waiting for Con Edison to restore power. See map here (it says they are going to restore power at 1:00 am)
Turn off appliances/tvs/computers. Leave on a light switch so you know when power is back on.

June 30, 2019Good and Green in Bay Ridge
‘Good & Green is a volunteer organization in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. They organize volunteer tree care for street trees and invasive species removal events in Owl’s Head Park. They enjoy making Brooklyn more beautiful, as well as educating people on the importance of green spaces and taking care of our trees.
What Have They Done:
Recently, Good and Green cleaned out around the trees on Third Avenue. See here
Last Fall, Good and Green planted daffodil bulbs along Shore Road leading up to the 69th Street Pier as a living 9/11 memorial.
Good and Green trimmed trees on 3rd Avenue.
In 2018, they have cut vines at Owl’s Head Park to protect trees and make the footpaths safer. See pic

Three cars collided and then waited in the grass on the exit ramp from the highway (at 80th Street and 7th Avenue) – it appears everyone is okay.
