Tonight the City Council Candidates Debated on Channel 1 News

I’ll be back tomorrow to write more about the debate that was on Channel 1 tonight.
Many people in Bay Ridge do not have Spectrum and couldn’t see the debate (it will be on their website). Why isn’t there a debate in our community? We are having an election for someone to represent the community for FOUR years – there should be at two debates here!
Something that is important that won’t come out in a debate is what we have seen with Justin Brannan and Andrew Gounardes being friends —> Both failed to share important information with the community, like the homeless shelter. Both men received letters from NYC and they decided to keep the news from us.
We also saw Andrew Gounardes in a SuperPAC with the casino in Coney Island. We shouldn’t see a state politician participating in a NYC election in our community.
When Vinny Gentile and Marty Golden were in office, both shared information with the community fast because they wanted to be the first to tell us. Also, we had a lot more community events because each office did their own events (remember the amazing Halloween celebration they had?)
Many people on Community Board 10 were chosen by Councilman Brannan. When the homeless shelter was announced at a CB 10 meeting, not one CB 10 member asked any questions. None were surprised, so most likely they knew the information before the meeting. If my neighbors knew, my phone would be blowing up or they would be ringing my bell to tell. Why were that many CB 10 members silent?
The same with the City of Yes – Justin Brannan carved his home out of the City of Yes and then voted for it. Not one CB 10 member objected. Why were they silent? Info:

We came to know this beautiful Nonna from the ” Cooking with Nonna” show that she did with her granddaughter, Rossella Rago.

Rossella shared this today:

The Bookmark Shoppe in Bay Ridge, which had events with Nonna Romana, shared this:

October 19, 2025The Bay Ridge Manor Has a New Owner Shared at The CB 10 Police and Public Safety Meeting

In the Spring, we saw the videos of the new owners on Facebook celebrating that they owned The Bay Ridge Manor. See:
When we asked the staff at The Bay Ridge Manor if there were new owners, they said the catering hall was not sold.
Acris shows it was sold:

You can see it here on the bottom left:
https://propertyinformationportal.nyc.gov/parcels/parcel/3059410051
It’s also called the new Yemeni Community building. See here:
https://www.facebook.com/100078951363572/posts/685308694110837/?rdid=zTBjr3qQAUAJCemr#
At the Community Board 10’s Meeting this week, they said that Ali is purchasing The Bay Ridge Manor. He was at the meeting to get a liquor license.
CB 10 also discussed liquor licenses for the following places:
a) New Greek restaurant – Kampos Taveerna at 8413 – 3rd Avenue. Owner also owns Pegasus, so you know it’s going to be good.

b) Cecchino’s is opening at 8702 – 3rd Avenue (where Uncle Louie G’s used to be). They will serve appetizers, salad, pizza, pasta dishes and dessert.

CB 10 also discussed another cannabis dispensary is opening in Bay Ridge. OV Enterprises is opening at 9206 – 3rd Avenue. It will be open every day until 11:00 pm and have a security guard.

Community Board 10, needs to rename the Police and Public Safety Committee to The Liquor and Dispensary License Committee.

Let’s not pretend CB 10 discusses safety. If this committee was interested in safety, they would have discussed how to prevent accidents like what happened on Narrows Avenue, as well as train surfing because children in our community were hurt.
