Bay Ridge Bicycles Opens on 4th Avenue

Bay Ridge Bicycles is a new bike shop which opened at 9124 – 4th Avenue (91st Street). You may recognize the owner of this shop, Juan! Juan was the mechanic from the Bay Ridge Bicycle Shop on 90th and 3rd Avenue. Juan has both new and repaired/restored bikes for sale in the shop.

This store front used to be a hookah place – It was Double Apple Hookah and before that it was Tea Room Hookah (see here)

Congratulations Juan! We’re glad to see you stayed in Bay Ridge.
Anthony from the old bike shop at 90th and 3rd Avenue put his message on Facebook: “I want to thank everyone in the community for the love and support throughout the years. It is every one of you that helped make Bay Ridge Bikes so special. We have officially closed as of two weeks ago. We gave the business to one of our employees, Juan Montas who has been with us for over 20 years. He relocated “Bay Ridge Bicycles” to 9124 4th ave. We are happy to still see the bicycle store still going strong. As I pursue my love and passion for my gym business Bad Ass Academy, I truly wanted to thank each and every one of you for the love and support. Thank you! The Hero’s Benefit 10/19

Some great residents are having The Hero’s Benefit on October 19th.
Come out and show your support!The Fifth annual Hero’s Benefit will be held at the Wicked Monk Party Room at 9510 3rd Avenue in Bay Ridge from 4:00 – 10:00 pm.

Support this amazing cause, the men and women of our US military!

Drink specials, live music, raffles, auction, 50/50, PHOTO BOOTH, free T-shirt giveaway with donation at the door, and tons of other surprises throughout the night!

All door and raffle proceeds will be donated to Hope for the Warriors which is a 501C3 that provides comprehensive support programs for service members, veterans, and military families that are focused on transition, health and wellness, peer engagement, and connections to community resources.

Come be part of a great day for an amazing cause, and remember, HAVE A DRINK, HELP A HERO!

Bay Ridge Child Gets Sent to the Wrong School

What a nightmare for any parent!
Thankfully, a teacher at PS 133 called Nicholas’ parents using the information his parents had attached to his bag!

Nicole Malliotakis – Always on the Wrong Side

Why is Nicole Malliotakis always on the wrong side? We see this happen over and over. Sometimes she flip flops because of public opinion. Today’s topic was the Teen Climate Change Strike.
Some children are activists at age 10. Why would Malliotakis object to children taking action and speaking up for the environment?
Parents took their children to the #ClimateStrike so children understand that they can call for the government to take action on climate change. See here

Spartan Souvlaki Restaurant Closed For Good
Update: While Spartan is closed, the son of the owner, Louie, opened his own place in Bay Ridge. Louie’s Gyro’s is at 7720 3rd Avenue.
If you thought Spartan was good, Louie’s Gyros is amazing. Get yourself a platter and enjoy a juicy meal.

Spartan Souvlaki Greek Restaurant at 6820 8th Avenue closed for good.
If you call the number, 718- 748-5838, you will hear George’s voice say slowly, “Spartan Closed. Thank you for your support all of these years.”
The news comes as a surprise to the community as many were told they were going on vacation.
George knew that one day he would be offered the right price for his place and some said he was looking forward to retiring.

We loved Geoge and his family and wish them well! We knew them since they were at their first location across the street.

Rape Suspect 2nd Attempt in Bay Ridge – 94th Street & 4th Avenue

This is the suspect who is wanted for attempting rape twice in Bay Ridge (on two 41 year old women). Both incidents involved the suspect and a 41 year old woman after 1:00 am.
First incident happened Monday on Battery Avenue and 86th Street.

Loudlabs NYC (video journalists) are the only ones mentioning the new incident at 4th Avenue and 94th Street.
