Wheels Taken on 10th Avenue and 85th Street

Imagine haven’t to come out to your vehicle looking like this on Easter weekend? This happened on 85th Street and 10th Avenue.

We don’t need any more speed cameras, we need security cameras that the community can use and alert the police. A few cameras and some signs about the new security will deter some thieves.

There are a lot of people in Dyker Heights who would be interested in keeping an eye on their neighborhood. (When men went down a manhole, a Dyker Heights neighbor watched the manhole on her camera for hours!)

Crime is Up in the 68th Precinct

Four felony assaults this week (up from two from last year at this time).

Auto robberies are up 240% for this year over last year. Why isn’t the 68th Precinct isn’t doing anything about it?

New Housing Development Coming to Staples Lot in Bay Ridge? 9305 – 5th Avenue

I saw Community Board 10’s Meeting announcement for changing the zoning for the Staples lot at 9305 – 5th Avenue.

They want to put this:

Onto this lot:

In 2024, this lot sold for $17 million dollars:

https://traded.co/deals/new-york/development-site/sale/9305-5th-avenue

A developer wants to put up an 11-story apartment building with 292 apartments on this lot. The new building will have retail stores on the ground floor with housing above it.

On Wednesday, April 15th Community Board 10 will have a committee meeting about this property and then on Monday, April 18th, the whole Community Board will vote.

I think CB 10 will vote in favor of this (the CB 10 members don’t live near 5th Aveue.

This is what Community Board 10 shared:

Staples would be the perfect location for a Trader Joes because it has a good size lot, but this development will take that away.
