I adore Ridge Kids new grey planters – they are beautiful! When I see a business has planters out like this, it means: “We are so happy to be here.”
The children’s clothing at Ridge Kids is adorable!!
When I was a kid, I had a coat like the one below. It was so warm and fun to wear.

November 11, 2019What Jaime DeJesus Won’t Tell You About Shore Road
Nicole’s Photo
Jaime De Jesus is a writer for the Brooklyn Reporter. Often we find his articles lack the concern of someone who lives here, mainly because he doesn’t live in this borough. (See info on this)
This week is no different.
De Jesus reported on the vandalism on Shore Road cars – many cars have been keyed and some people have had their tires slashed.
DeJesus talked to Councilman Brannan and Captain Conwell, who each talked about adding more lighting to the area. Then DeJesus took someone else’s pictures for the article.
Here’s where there is a problem with reporters from out of the area: If Jaime De Jesus actually went out to see the lights that the NYPD placed in Bay Ridge, he would understand that a new problem was created! Generators are running temporary flood lights which are shining into resident’s homes and making it difficult for them to sleep. Night after night this has been going on, as the generators are not turned off until 6:00 am. Residents noted that this type of light is used in the projects. While it’s great that the Councilman and NYPD are doing something, a new issue of people “living in a spotlight” should not have been created.
There is a way to tap into the street lights and run the lights (we have seen people do it with their Christmas lights). While the NYPD won’t be able to do that, Con Edison can hook it up. Why aren’t those who are concerned about the environment complaining about the generator polluting the area near the water with diesel fuel? Because residents don’t know that’s what is happening, since it is not being reported.
Has anyone put in a request with Con Edison for permanent lighting to be added/upgraded here?
Captain Conwell claimed to have patrols on the avenue now. De Jesus would have been able to see if that was true as well if he was here. This is a *big* part of the problem and every resident knows it, but DeJesus failed to put it in his story!
Is DeJesus reporting for the neighborhood if he doesn’t live here and isn’t willing to come here to check out the situation and talk to the people, like Kadia Goba always did? His reporting isn’t helping when it leaves out the key components of the story! I have tried talking to De Jesus about this for years. Now that there is only one company which owns all the local newspapers, this is a problem.
On 11/12, the 68th Precinct shared the picture below with no solution for the residents. You know why? They also don’t live here and don’t care.
