Bay Ridge – Do You Have Hay to Donate?

We have this amazing group in our area called Bay Ridge Community Cats (See here). Now that the weather is getting colder, they have partnered with My Natural Pet Pet Store to put together some Winter cat shelters for cats in our neighborhood.

They need hay, which you may have from your Fall decorations.

They also need foam coolers or those large plastic storage bins (see below). If you have any of these things, can you please bring it to My Natural Pet at 8318 – 5th Avenue to help the cats in Bay Ridge.

They are building small Winter cat shelters for the cats on the street and will be giving them out to residents who need it to keep backyard cats warm.

If you have questions or want to get involved with TNR in our neighborhood, join the group here

68th Precinct, We Need Patrols on Shore Rd.

Last night, 30-40 cars parked on Shore Road were vandalized. Most had the two tires on the park side slashed. Some cars had all four tires stolen and the car was left jacked up. See pictures here and here

Last week, the 68th Precinct put out these huge lights on Shore Road.

Yet, dozens of residents woke up to seeing their cars parked on Shore Road with slashed tires and some cars were keyed.  This has been going on for month now – slashed tires, broken windows and keyed cars – see here and here

Last week, the 68th Precinct Twitter account told someone that they have dedicated cars solely for patrol on Shore Road. See here

If that’s true, how were so many cars vandalized? This takes time to do.

Why can’t the NCO’s for that area BE IN THAT AREA?  Bay Ridge does not need e-mail police officers and we need to end the NCO program because it is not working!  We need police officers who are present and interested in helping this community.

In the 62nd Precinct, they use this hashtag:  #youspokewelistened  (Seen here). When will the 68th Precinct be able to use that?

Update: It’s the end of the day (10 pm_ and only one out of four politicians commented on the vandalism. Nothing from Senator Gounardes or either Assembly woman – why?

Councilman Brannan wrote here:

I guess he doesn’t doesn’t know that the NYPD already said they have a patrol there.

Update 2: Residents are sharing their experience with car vandalism with the news and online. This has been happening in Bay Ridge for over a month now.

Wait….Why Isn’t the Door Locked?

Ed Mullins, head of the Sergeants Benevolent Association shared the tweet above. Click the video to watch it.

Why is the door of the police car unlocked? Where are the police officers?

Sharing it on social media will only create copycats.

Dyker Heights Give Your Own Tours!

Yikes $399!   See the Groupon $399.00 here

Most tours are in the $50-$60 range. See here

Dyker Heights residents don’t put up lights for people to profit like this. They do it for their community to enjoy.

They should do their own tours – close the street each weekend (maybe using a block party license) and shut those who are profiting from them down!

Who is Pulling Justin Brannan?

This week Councilman Justin Brannan tweeted a link to his op-ed in Crain’s Twice. The article was written with Carlo Scissura. Scissura hailed the BQX project could see was terrible and he welcomed AirBnB to Brooklyn. (If you ever wondered why Cars2Go (see here), a car rental place can take parking on our streets without paying anything – this is the guy to ask).

Who is pulling Brannan’s strings here?

Did Brannan forget who elected him?

Why isn’t the Councilman handling the problems in this district?  Brannan has a large staff, but I think he was more productive when his staff was smaller.

While he has been in office for two years, Brannan hasn’t been able to cut the red tape for home owners in his district. In fact, he has become part of the red tape in some situations while he whispers op-eds into local papers….no Crains op-ed for the discriminatory property taxes our neighborhood is receiving.   Even Mayor de Blasio ignored Brannan’s article from September

He’s good at the small 311 reported problems, but our district has a lot of larger problems that he hasn’t been able to get in front of. So he shouldn’t be writing Op-Eds like he has unlimited free time. For home owners in his district, we want to know: “Who is pulling Justin Brannan?”
