January 12, 2020Gounardes’ Townhall Interrupted By Angry Parent
Senator Gounardes faced off with a parent at the Kids Townhall.
Gounardes would not respond to this parent, so she knew he was having a townhall and went to speak up for her child (because Gounardes wouldn’t call her back!)
While schools require children to get vaccinated, some children have particular issues and can’t get vaccinations. If someone listened they would understand that.
Gounardes did offer to discuss the topic with the parent after the Townhall, but the parent was very angry (as someone who contacts someone about their child would be when they can’t get an answer about school)
He tweeted about the parent – that’s not good. It’s like a revenge tweet.
Politicians should not tweet – they are so bad at it.
While the parent is initially angry because of the required MMR vaccinations, she brings up the Senate bill that will be voted on this year.
It’s for a required HPV Vaccine for all 7th grade students (Senator Brad Hoylman’s bill – see here)
Update: Channel 1 covered the Kids Townhall this evening. While the auditorium is mostly empty, the children there seemed to enjoy being heard. The children asked him questions about bullying, gun control, climate change and vaping. One girl said, “Kids have ideas too and they can understand what is happening in the world.

January 12, 2020Andrew Gounardes You Don’t Have Our Back – We Don’t Have Yours
Here Andrew is LYING by saying that he is making Southern Brooklyn more affordable…..who did he make it more affordable for? Not us!
If Senator Gounardes made your living more affordable, leave me a comment.
We have just over two hours left before our fundraising deadline!
Please chip in what you can so we can show everyone just how much community support our campaign has. https://t.co/awkK4Sn1BG pic.twitter.com/ViFzWhfEai
— Andrew Gounardes (@agounardes) January 12, 2020
Andrew can rally for money for his campaign…..and for bike lanes or red light cameras, but he doesn’t do anything for home owners in his district who are overtaxed.
The bike lanes that Gounardes overrode Community Board 10 have not made the streets safer for anyone – drivers or cyclists. Many are disasters waiting to happen. Gounardes had the ability to make a cyclists covered bike lane ring around the community and he chose paint instead.

January 11, 2020Did Councilman Brannan Fool You Today?
Today, Councilman Brannan tweeted that it was 11 days into 2020 and there was no word about property tax reform. See tweet
How do we tell Councilman Brannan to stop pretending that he is doing something about property taxes?
In September, Brannan wrote an article for a paper In December, Brannan was seen having dinner in Bay Ridge with Mayor de Blasio. See here
Many electeds and political experts have said nothing is going to happen with property taxes this year, so the guy who is having dinner with the mayor obviously knows as well. Even Corey Johnson said it wasn’t going to happen to Crains. See here and here.
We’ve seen Brannan rally when stores (including his wife’s shop were fined) – see the passion here.
Councilman Brannan is a lawmaker and has the ability to create a bill for homeowner. Recently, we saw Brannan rallied for a property tax bill which wouldn’t help current home owners and a policy expert explained will actually hurt long-time residents – see here. Last month he was rallying for a drone bill, even though the technology is not trackable yet. See here
Are these tweets to fool residents? Notice that the tweet isn’t aimed at anyone (with a @ sign and a name), like Corey Johnson who formed this property tax commission with the Mayor twenty months ago.
What this really says is that Brannan can’t be a Councilman if Johnson is the mayor – nothing will ever get done as Brannan doesn’t have the political courage to call our Corey Johnson for creating a property tax commission which has only delayed tax reform.
Brannan is good with the 311 items, but when the issue involves working with someone else to get something done, he’s locked out. The illegal apartments issue is the same way – it’s not being handled

January 11, 2020Bay Ridge Residents Take Care of Drunk Driver
Adam Balhetchet of Loudlabs shared this video taken on Friday, January 10th.
He wrote: “Concerned Bay Ridge residents got a drunk hit and run driver arrested. It started at approximately 5:53 pm Friday at 86 St & Gelston Ave, just in front of Spectrum. That is when a white pickup truck struck a grey Dodge Durango and fled the scene. One witness photographed the plates. Another witness provided LLNNYC with the video which was posted to social media including local Bay Ridge Facebook groups. When the owner returned to the vehicle, a witness stated he saw the driver around the corner. 911 was called, police showed up and arrested the driver for intoxicated driving. His Pennsylvania-plated pickup truck was towed.”
