McCabe Challenges Gounardes Over Bail Reform

Liam McCabe is challenging Andrew Gounardes’ support for ‘no bail’ for criminals. See here

In Bay Ridge, a woman was attacked and had her leggings pulled down in the bathroom at the 95th Street Subway Station by a man who got out of jail because of bail reform.

McCabe called Gounardes a bum on Facebook for supporting bail reform.  See here

Most people here believe the NY State elected politicians went too far with bail reform.

I called on Mathylde Frontus and Andrew Gounardes to do something and neither has done anything to correct the bill because their party doesn’t want to.  We got the feeling that neither thinks they need our support.

While Bay Ridge has many Democrats, Socialists and Republicans, a lot of us will base our vote on our community.  We are looking for the Bay Ridge candidate. There are enough people playing politics and the Trump cards. We need someone who is going to base their vote on the Bay Ridge community and not their party.

Ft. Hamilton Army Base Set For Quarantining People

As of  6:30 am on Friday, February 7th,  There are no known cases of corona virus in Bay Ridge, but the city is testing a two NY’ers for it.

The city has primary and secondary locations identified to quarantine people, but they need army bases for large groups who aren’t showing signs of the virus, but need to be tested.

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) asked the Pentagon to find military installations near 11 major airports that could potentially house up to 220 U.S. citizens quarantined due to the novel corona virus.

Ft. Hamilton was chosen because it is close to JFK Airport.   See here

Teen Stabbed on 4th Avenue in Bay Ridge

After school today, a 16-year-old boy was stabbed in the shoulder by another teen on 4th Avenue and 68th Street near  the Fourth Avenue Presbyterian Church . Story here  and here

This article provides more info– three teens jumped two teens. One teen was running with a small knife. Councilman Brannan wrote here: “Appears to be an after-school fight between rival high school kids that got out of control.”

Caution – in this video the teen is on the ground.   The teen was beaten and has stab wounds.  The comments below the video say that he will be okay – so that’s good news. The teen was taken to the hospital.

“A witness said a delivery man intervened and chased the suspects away.”   Thank you delivery man!

The street was entirely closed off at 3:30 pm by emergency vehicles.

Two helicopters hovered over the surrounding area for an hour looking for the suspects. The police were looking for the three suspects. The teen with the knife was described as  wearing a camouflage jacket and a black hoodie.

Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782)

Pedestrian Hit by Car on Shore Road

Loudlabs shared this pic

This afternoon around 4pm, a pedestrian was hit by a car on Shore Road and Ridge Blvd. Then the driver knocked over the mailbox and crashed into the light pole.   The vehicle is on the sidewalk!

Loudlabs shared this video CAUTION – the victim is on the stretcher.

The police carried a dog with a leash away.

Prayers for our neighbor…hopefully she is okay and has a quick recovery! We’re glad she is alive!

Prayers also for the driver.

In the afternoon, the 68th Precinct shared that they were talking to residents about pedestrian safety. Maybe this wasn’t the best day to talk about pedestrian safety. Their flyer needs to add a new box: “Wear sneakers and start running when a 3,000 pound vehicle is approaching you on the sidewalk.”

Shorefront News Doesn’t Have it Right

I saw the above blur and went to read it.

Shorefront News wrote here, “Because of term limits, next year will be the last for Mr, Brannan in the City Council. That’s not true.

Brannan was elected in November 2017 and started in January 2018. Councilmembers are elected for four years and can serve for two consecutive terms. Why would David Strobin write that Brannan was term-limited?
