If You Can Sew, Bay Ridge Cares Needs You
Fabric, non surgical/non N-95 masks are needed to be distributed to front line workers working with the homeless, our most vulnerable population in NYC. These masks will also be distributed to the individuals living in these shelters.
If you have sewing or DIY skills and would like a safe, socially distant way to give back, please consider joining this effort.
Kathy will pick up the masks – please email at [email protected] with the subject line MASKS or FB Kathy Ioannou when you are ready.
Below is a mask-making demo video, but feel free to use your own process as long as mouth and nose areas are fully covered.
Please share.

April 4, 2020Gounardes’ Serenity Prayer After a Bad Budget
Aren’t we all tired of legislatures who pretend that they are going to stand up and fight, but then do nothing when an unfair budget comes out
YEAR
AFTER
YEAR.
The Senate and Assembly get together in Albany at the very last second EVERY YEAR. Then Cuomo tricks them all and they cry on social media.
Th senators know they need to do the budget, why do they wait for the last second to meet? They act like they teenagers who cram for a final exam, instead of giving the NYS budget their attention and time.
AND NOT ONE WILL STAND UP AND SAY NO WE AREN’T DOING IT THIS WAY ANY MORE.
Gounardes prayed the serenity prayer that people in Alcoholics Anonymous pray (yes, he really did – go look). Even people in Alcoholics Anonymous know you can’t keep doing the same thing and expect different results. NY loses EVERY SINGLE YEAR because of these people who don’t want to take the time to do their job.
Gounardes gives us a lot of fluff here, but ultimately he lays down and surrenders to his Political Daddy by saying:
“The state constitution explicitly places control of the budget process firmly in the hands of the Governor. ”
Politicians will even tell us that the big thing the budget did was ban styrofoam. Sadly, even Gounardes touted this as his accomplishment.
Yes, Andrew Gunardes, we are in the middle of a pandemic where renters are without salaries and their landlords are breathing down their throats. I’m sure they are glad you banned styrofoam.
Something good that Andrew Gounardes hid from ya’ll. Changes were made in bail reform and judges have discretion when someone is a second time offended. Gounardes did not mention the word bail on his write-up here. Gounardes actually supported this. Why didn’t he write about it? Andrew’s hiding that from his base, who wouldn’t like that.

April 4, 2020Trevor Noah or His Producer is Our Neighbor
![]()
You may have seen this truck parked in Bay Ridge. Usually is appears on or off Third Avenue from 70th Street to 90th Street.
The unusual truck caught many resident’s attention when it was parked in front of Our Lady of Angels church on 4th Avenue and 73rd Street. Some Ridgites knocked on the door of the truck to ask about it, but no one answered.
It’s here for our neighbor, Trevor Noah or Noah’s Producer. Trevor Noah is with The Daily Show. The strange truck everyone is seeing allows Trevor to upload his show.
This is Trevor Noah talking to Brooklyn’s, Dr. Fauci.
Dr. Anthony Fauci answers some of the most pressing questions surrounding coronavirus: How is it spread? What makes it so insidious? What are the dangers of self-medicating? Can you get re-infected? pic.twitter.com/tvw25lQZBs
