May 13, 202068th Precinct – Neighborhood Policing No Good
![]()
Are they going to keep saying that crime is down? Is there someone who will admit that neighborhood policing doesn’t work here? We need police on the streets – not answering e-mail. The officers are doing what they have been asked to do, so don’t blame them.
It’s not just because of the pandemic – it’s been this way for a long time.
When crime statistics show crime is up, we should see Councilman Brannan and Senator Gounardes stepping up. The have met with this Captain over other issues and although they are a promised a change, nothing happens. It’s time to call for more help.
Drive slightly outside of this precinct either way – there are cops all over patrolling the streets. Bay Ridge needs the same. A police presence will cut down on a lot of menacing that is going on.

May 13, 202010.5 Million Paid for Property for New School
![]()
Why does NYC pay top dollar for property for schools?
The Lenox Hill Radiology property at 6740 Third Avenue cost NYC 10.5 Million for just the property – without a school building.
When the building was sold and the story was in the paper, everyone pretended they didn’t know how much the property was sold for. Cute, right? We all questioned that in October – see here
Do they think people don’t care that money is being used “because it is for a school?”
The lot is 17,000 square feet. I wonder if their are any realtors who could access this using the rates from the Fall?
We know the Nathan’s site was acquired for twice the price and was the most expensive school property deal. See story in the newspaper.
Something Isn’t Right Here.

May 12, 2020Whose Listening to Parents in the NYS Senate?
![]()
John Liu held a Townhall online.
It actually was in the townhall format where people were allowed to talk and share their views on education.
Some of the senators, like John Liu and Brad Hoylman listened intently to the parents.
Our senator seemed to be distracted by his phone/text throughout the meeting.
![]()
For most of the meeting Gounardes was looking down and appeared to be uninterested.

![]()
I guess it’s better than Senator Kavanagh’s move:
![]()
When this happened, I didn’t hear anyone ask Sen Kavanagh if he was alright.
Senator Gounardes barely said anything at the Townhall Meeting. The parents were very passionate.
![]()
Even the photo Brian Kavanagh shared showed how disinterested Senator Gounardes was:
