John Quaglione – Bay Ridge

When I saw last week’s Brooklyn Paper, the ‘Twitter’ story caught my attention. I recognized the names involved, but I don’t know either man that well. As I read the story, I was annoyed that these two men argued over the littlest thing: Quaglione’s garbage and recyclying weren’t picked up. Now of course that is not […]

Dear Senator Golden

I contacted Senator Marty Golden’s office in June 2012. I exchanged several e-mails with Ray Riley/ John Quaglione at Martin Golden’s office. I thought Riley was a much older man because he took a long time replying to an e-mail and didn’t follow up. When I called the Golden’s office and left a message with […]

Brooklyn Queens Day 2012

Brooklyn-Queens Day is a day that all students in Brooklyn and Queens love because they have no school!  And that’s a reason to celebrate, right? This Brooklyn Anniversary Day is always celebrated the first Thursday in June! When I was a kid we had Brooklyn-Queens Day back then too, although no one remembers it. […]

Best Fabric Store in Bay Ridge

I usually don’t have the time to go to Michaels Craft store so I mostly go local in Bay Ridge:     1) J & A Fabrics – April 2017 Update – J& A Fabrics moved to 90th Street and 5th Avenue (the old Robicelli Bakery spot). I am so exited about their new store […]

Fall at the new house

Halloween and Thanksgiving are my favorite holidays. I love decorating for these holidays best too. Having a new house makes this season especially sweet :) Getting used to the new house has been exciting and exhilerating. Sitting on the backyard desk still leaves me breathless….it’s mine and I’m finally here where I wanted to be […]

Buying Furniture

One of the fun things about the new house is that we have been purchasing new furniture for the house. Dining Room: The dining room is the most difficult because we haven’t seen what we are looking for yet. We are hoping to purchase a counter height table with leaves so we can sit 10 […]

This weekend

I am looking forward to a wonderful weekend of setting up our home and getting rid of boxes. We also are expected at a family party on Saturday. Sunday is Brooklyn’s Atlantic Antic and I’m excited about meeting up with old friends and enjoying the street festival! Also there is a 3rd Avenue Festival in […]

Life is moving fast!

It’s October! I can’t believe I have been a home owner for a month now. It’s exciting, a bit overwhelming and fun! The new house is beautiful, comfortable and just so right. It’s also a lot of work and I go to bed tired almost every night. Last night, I laid on the bed and […]

Amazing!

We primed and painted after covering the wood floors well. The house is coming along nicely. We put wainscoting upstairs. I am totally in love with the wainscoting (pics soon when I get some furniture in). A friend came over to the place tonight. This friend has INCREDIBLE taste. She told me that my place was GORGEOUS! It was just what I […]

I’m a Home Owner!

It was an amazing weekend. We closed on the house on Thursday and then painted on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  Yesterday, we brought things over to the house and went shopping at Bed, Bath and Beyond. After some coffee this morning, we are heading over to do some more painting. I’m thankful for God’s grace.

Three Bklyn Kids are Dead

Three children in Brooklyn are dead  from falling out windows. None of them live in the affluent neighborhoods of Park Slope, Downtown Brooklyn, Boerum Hill or Bay Ridge, but rather poorer sections of the borough. One year old Afnan Elhouize is dead and her death could have been prevented. Two other Brooklyn kids died this month the same way: Devin […]
