A forty-one year old mother and her 18-year-old son were crossing Mermaid Avenue at West 24th Street in Coney Island on Friday night near 9:00 pm. The driver of a red pickup truck struck them both and sped off. Tamika Richards died. Her son is at Langone Hospital injured. (Info and here) RIP Tamika Richards.
