June 29, 2026Before The Stabbing at Dyker Park on Saturday 6/26/26….Is The Investigation on Shore Parkway Related?

On Saturday, several police officers were investigating on Shore Parkway.
The 68th Precinct may not be aware of this because it happened on the bike path near Shore Parkway with officers from another precinct.

The officers are standing in the high grass with an electric scooter. Why would a scooter be without the driver?

The teens could easily gone up the overpass and to Dyker Park from this location.
(Police stopped on the other side of the highway as well)

If I knew someone at the 68th Precinct, I would share this with them, but I don’t.

June 28, 2026Captain Christopher Vincenti is Leading the 68th Precinct in Bay Ridge
\

Today, June 28th, the 68th Precinct announced that Captain Christopher Vincenti is the head of the 68th Precinct.

Christopher Vincenti previously worked at the 68th precinct. In February 2025, he was promoted to Captain. See:
https://twitter.com/NYPD68Pct/status/1895676592254492887
In prior years, we were able to watch the interviews for this position, but unfortunately that was not offered to the community this time.
While the 68th Precinct has many hard-working officers, there is a major communication issue with the public. Also real issues don’t get handled by the 68th Precinct’s leadership.
Assenblyman Alec Brooks-Krasny shared this:

Last week there was a murder and the police and politicians never reported back to the community any information and what’s being done. Regardless if there is an open investigation, something should have been shared with the community by now. People are on edge because the killer is still on the loose!
The murder that happened yesterday at Dyker Park was in the 68th Precinct. The problems at that park have been reported by individuals, but changes were not made to the park.
Congratulations to Captain Vincenti! There is a good story about Christopher Vincenti as an officer in Coney Island here: https://shorturl.at/fTFhN
Hopefully, Captain Vincenti realizes how much this community needs leadership (and not the same old Fort Snooze).

June 27, 2026CB 10 Announces ULURP For Staples Building Less Than a Week Before The Meeting on July 1, 2026

NYC City Planning Commission will discuss the Staples Property in Bay Ridge on Wednesday July 1st at 10:00am.
1. Info to attend the person or speak at the virtual meeting: https://www.nyc.gov/content/planning/pages/calendar
2. You can submit comments here: https://cpccomments.planning.nyc.gov/
3. Watch the meeting on Youtube: https://m.youtube.com/@nycdepartmentofcityplanning?ra=m
At the first CB 10 meeting with the developer for the Staples property, he told CB 10 that he met with NYC Council Representative Kayla Santosuosso and former Councilman Justin Brannan. He LED with that and he didn’t give an inch because he didn’t HAVE to.
Former Councilman Justin Brannan failed to add housing all the years he was in office. State Senator Andrew Gounardes failed to add affordable housing to Bay Ridge. Gounardes stood with Governor Hochul as she made a sweet deal for developers the Gowanas area (that’s who always wins with bad politicians).
Now the Mamdami administration is blaming our area for the problems of terrible politicians, who prioritized developers, but not affordable housing! And Santosuosso stood at the Community Board Meeting and acted as if the community blocked affordable housing in the past. She worked for Brannan, so she should have represented the community and put the blame where it belonged.
In 2020, Radiofree Bay Ridge, shared that our area was not keeping up with housing for the homeless and neither Brannan, Gounardes or Santosuosso took action. See:
The home owners on 93rd Street are going to suffer because of our terrible politicians. Santosuosso could have called for the developer to do a study on the sewers and the traffic on the streets, but she didn’t.
Kayla Santosuosso and her husband owned The Lockyard Bar. She knows that the area can not handle more traffic and the sewers are a problem. Yet, Kayla failed to speak about it at the CB 10 meeting. This corner near PS 104 is getting an electric charging station and two apartment buildings with grocery stores. Every parent knows how hard dropoff and pickups are at PS 104. Why doesn’t Kayla know this?

Our community received housing before Brannan and Gounardes. Many SRO’s were quietly added to the area years ago. Neither CB 10 or any politician has ever mentioned these SRO’s, but we have visited some of them (most are nicely-maintained buildings).
Community Board 10 isn’t here for the community. To provide the date of the ULURP meeting less than a week before the meeting is very telling. Please submit a comment to support our 93rd Street neighbors: https://cpccomments.planning.nyc.gov/
