Children Hurt By Fireworks at Ben Vitale Ballfield

This morning there was a loud explosion at Ben Vitale Ballfield (see gold circle on the map below for this ballfield). The explosion shook the ground of the area around the ballfield. People in the neighborhood thought the explosion came from the Fort Hamilton Army Base.

A child lit a firework that he found on Bay 8th Street. The fireworks exploded in his hand. This child was seriously hurt and two other boys were hurt as well. They were all taken to the hospital. Please pray for these three children and their parents as well (what started out as a baseball morning has turned into a nightmare for them).

Outside the ballfield were many ambulances, police cars and firetrucks. Parents at the adjacent baseball field shared about this.

59-Year-Old Woman Raped at Kaiser Park in Coney Island at 8:30 am on Tuesday, May 26th

On Tuesday, May 26th at 8:30 am, a woman was raped at Kaiser Park on Bayview and Neptune Avenues in Coney Island. News:

https://shorturl.at/4ctp9

The 59-year-old woman was walking through the park and a man threw her to the ground. She tried to fight him off. He raped her and ran away. Please pray for this woman, who must be in shock that she wasn’t safe in a park in broad daylight.

Assemblyman Brook-Krasny shared this:

I’m surprised Councilwoman Kayla Santosuosso, who represents Coney Island and Bay Ridge didn’t share information about the rapist, who is still at large. If Santosuosso is on maternity leave, her staffer, Chris McCreight should have shared the perp’s picture and issued a warning to the women in Coney Island by now!

Dead Rats Floating in the Gowanas Canal. Why Isn’t Senator Gounardes Taking Action?

Yikes! Dead rats are floating in the Gowanas Canal. Bianca explains this:

The residents call the dead rats Gowanas footballs. See original video and comments here: https://www.instagram.com/reels/DY5NlbcSPLT

This is the area where developers won with Senator Gounardes and Governor Kathy Hochul as 5,300 new apartments were planned for this area. And this is where they thought affordable housing should be put. Info:

The environmental concerns in this area don’t seem to be an issue for anyone.

Should people be canoeing in this Superfund area? It’s a little over $30 a ticket to take a ride. Look: https://gowanusdredgers.org/events/category/guided-tours

Man Spitting on 86th Street in Bay Ridge

A Bay Ridge resident shared that a man asked her for money on 86th Street tonight by the bus stop – outside of Panda Garden. She told the man she didn’t have any money and he spit in her face.
