April 23, 2026The Bay Ridge BID Needs New Leadership

Tonight there was a Community Board 10 Environmental Committee meeting. The Bay Ridge BID’s representative spoke as if the new containers on 5th Avenue in Bay Ridge were working.

Fifth Avenue is a mess because the corner garbage cans were removed. Citibins were placed in the middle of the block. These rectangular containers look like they are owned by the business they are outside of, rather than for pedestrian use.
People are continuing to place garbage on the corners where the cans were located. People who used the corner bins for their household garbage are just leaving their bags on the corner as well.

The bins don’t look like they can hold much as their are bags outside of the bins. Why didn’t they try this out on one block before pushing it out on the avenue? What a wreck:

This is going to hurt the great bars and businesses on 5th Avenue – they need new leadership to get control of this problem!

Someone either needs to return the corner garbage cans or place signs on the corner to alert people to use the Citibins. Kayla Santosuosso, the NYC Council representative for the area has been alerted, but she hasn’t taken action.

When making changes like this, why was the 68th Precinct alerted so that people who are dumping on 5th Avenue can be fined? The auxiliary police officers could do that and then word would spread that people were being ticketed.

Thank you to the Ridgite and her dogs who took the photos because they love Bay Ridge!

April 23, 2026Why Isn’t Kayla Santosuosso Replying to Residents in Bay Ridge?

At the Community Board 10 Environmental Meeting this evening, an animal advocate named Mary Elizabeth is advocating for cats in Bay Ridge.
Mary Elizabeth mentioned that she contacted Council Representative, Kayla Santosuosso, but Santosuosso has not responded to her.
That’s strange because a developer for Staples shared that he met with Santosuosso. Info: https://shorturl.at/y9j2P
Mary Elizabeth wanted assistance in translating flyers to educate the community about the issues.
Mary Elizabeth also said she contacted Justin Brannan’s office and he did not return calls.
How are people not getting assistance from our NYC Council Representative? Why aren’t Santosuosso’s staffers answering residents?

April 22, 2026Andrew Gounardes Repeated What He Heard on Social Media About Chi Osse – Yet. There Was No Deed Theft

Andrew Gounardes defends his friend Chi Osse. Yet, what Gounardes wrote was not accurate and he didn’t correct it the following day.
The Attorney General, Letiticia James said there was no deed theft. She claimed it was a family dispute.

On Errol Lewis’ show, Chi Osse said he did not identify himself to the police. Why would an elected official not speak to the police?

Gounardes is an attorney and should have checked before repeating that this was deed theft.

April 22, 2026Neugard Pharmacy in Bay Ridge is Closing 4/24

Neugard Pharmacy at 7311 – 3rd Avenue in Bay Ridge is Closing on Friday, April 24th.
This is very sad to see as many Ridgites loved this pharmacy up until they renovated the place. After they renovated, there were a lot of complaints that the pharmacy wasn’t open and the phone wasn’t working. People were frustrated because they couldn’t pick up their prescriptions.
