Kid Friendly Cafe – The Coop in Bay Ridge
New kid-friendly cafe open in Bay Ridge called The Coop. The coffee shop/eatery is located at 9504 and 4th Avenue (next to the diner on the corner of 95th Street – across the street from St. Patrick’s Church. Husband and wife Bay Ridge residents and their partner are opening this place soon. See their Facebook page Look at how many strollers they fit into their place.
May 2016 Update: If you download the Cups App on your phone, you can pre-purchase The Coop coffee at a 40% discount.
Latte on tap – delicious!
The new cafe has a nice play area that’s closed off so parents can enjoy coffee and food while their children play. It’s obviously designed by a Mom who wanted to sit down and have a cup of coffee while her child played safely. Since the play area is in the back where the Moms gather, it feels creep-free.
I blurred the photo below so you can see the area. There were a lot of Moms enjoying it! See more pictures of the back play area here.
But Moms aren’t the only ones enjoying the place! Since The Coop has free wifi and a lot of comfortable seats, young executives are sitting at the front tables in the early afternoon. It’s a great alternative to the packed Starbucks on 93rd Street. The wireless password is at the bottom of their chalkboard.
High chairs are available and there is a changing table in the bathroom.
It’s a really great addition to Bay Ridge. Opening a business isn’t easy and adding these flowers outside tells me it was well thought out and the owners really wanted their business to be part of Bay Ridge!
Good luck to the Coop!! We’re glad you are here!
Hugs,
marlene
