When Brannan Was Silent Over a 34 Year Contract with ACC and NYC – Why Didn’t His Staff Say Anything? How About the Bay Ridge Democrats – Doesn’t Anyone Like Dogs?

Tonight I watched Councilman Justin Brannan on Spectrum’s NYC Speaker Forum. Brannan shouldn’t be running for NYC Speaker, he’s not someone who can speak up for other people.

Brannan was the only NYC Council person at the NYC Speaker forum who couldn’t say Mayor de Blasio shouldn’t run for governor. That should tell him that he isn’t the right person for speaker. (See here)

When NYC went into a 34-year contract with Animal Care and Control (ACC), why did Brannan remain silent? Animal activists called on him and Justin didn’t do anything. What’s worse is that his whole office knows that a contract went down with a kill shelter and not one of them could stand up for dogs or cats. Is there one person in his office who likes animals? (More info)

This is a soldier’s dog that Animal Care and Control in Brooklyn is going to kill on 12/11 – (More info)

The Bay Ridge Democrats must realize that Brannan was silent when this contract went through. A weird real estate deal also went down with it. Isn’t there one person in the Bay Ridge Democrats that would speak up for cats and dogs? NYC was supposed to move to a No-Kill Shelter System – not lock themselves in a 34-year contract with a shelter.

Justin Brannan did the wrong thing with the East River Park. People went to him because he is the chairman of a committee for the resiliency. While plans were being made and the community was left out, Brannan should have provided a complete report to the activists or requested a hearing for the activists. They received a report where all the information was blacked out:

Corey Johnson said not one Councilmember requested a hearing.

How could all of the people at Brannan’s office think it was alright for Justin not to take any action when he chairs that committee? Someone has to believe it is unethical – why would they stay silent over it? The activists received such a runaround, they taped their encounter at the office. See here

How did Brannan move so far away from representing people and thinking that he should be the NYC Council Speaker when he isn’t able to even speak with activists over a park? Why are his staffers silent when they know this is wrong? It’s takes a lot of people doing the wrong thing to allow these huge problems to exist.

Hugs,
marlene
