Paper License Plates Are Sometimes a Problem – Some Cars in Our Area Have This
We have a lot of cars in the area with these strange paper license plates.
The Post article stated: “Bogus plates have been connected to 33 shootings and 60 other incidents where shots were fired, according to Chief of Department Rodney Harrison, who added that he believes that’s “lowballing” the figures.” (See here)

These bogus plates are all a scam. Maybe 10% of them are legitimate temporary tags until the real ones arrive but the majority are an insurance scam, registration scam etc. How many of these same cars are operated by drivers with a suspended license? How many don’t carry insurance? The answer: the overwhelming majority of them. This crack down is overdue. Fun fact: forging a temporary plate is a felony (criminal possession of a forged instrument). Not that people will be punished for this, but it is a felony on the books.

That’s the thing…I don’t understand why the 68th Precinct isn’t ticketing these trucks, trailers and vehicles with illegal plates. Someone they know must own them!
