Brannan’s “TO DO List” Doesn’t Help Bay Ridge Residents

Councilman Brannan shared his “To Do List” on social media today.

It’s sad when politicians think punishing people from the other party needs to be on their to do list. If Malliotakis did something wrong, the law will take care of it – Brannan doesn’t need to put on his to do list.

As restaurants and businesses in Bay Ridge are closing, silly lists like this show politicians are more about playing politics than helping their communities.

Wasn’t he also supposed to be getting the traffic light installed at 95th, Ridge Blvd, and Marine Avenue? We moved here March 2019 and about 18 months ago received a letter touting all the hard work done for the soon-to-be installed light at this crazy, 5-way intersection. Still waiting.

Yes! There are a lot of situations like this. Brannan gets too wrapped up in what the Democrats and the developers are doing. He was good the first year, but then after that became just like the politicians he disliked.

I agree that federal happenings aren’t really the domain of city councilpeople. But I’ve also been impressed by Brannan’s responses when I contacted him about the rezoning issues happeing on 5th. He took the time to respond to my specific questions and did so very quickly and thoroughly.

More than I can say for Andrew Gounardes, who I’ve been given several promises from his office about getting back to me on a specific topic, but so far nothing. And the one time I passed by his office to ask, it was closed. Gounardes’ bragging during his debate with Bruno that his office was open and functional after some stumbling blocks during his first two weeks in office just kinda rubbed salt in the wound and reinforced my notion that talking to Gounardes’ office is like talking to a brick wall.

I’ve found Brannan’s office to be extremely responsive in my experience. But I’m with you on your assessment of Gounardes, Marlene!

Well I am glad that he is helping someone. For Dyker Heights, he has delayed the neighborhood from receiving help for illegal conversions. For the last three years, Brannan has sent press releases that have done nothing at fixing the property tax rate. Gounardes should have written the bill, but for two years the two of them have been playing games.

Where is the money from the district going? Several organizations are getting money from Brannan, as well as other sources. The neighborhood looks like mess and street corners are covered with garbage. #SomethingIsn’tRight

I didn’t realize City Council had the ability to impeach the president of the US. Or forgive student loans for that matter. Justin’s very charismatic and I believe he probably does care for the community, but this kind of post is just not necessary. Also, his back must be hurting him after carrying Gounardes for the last 2 years and the thought that he’ll be doing it again for 2 more.

Can these guys release a press statement without each other? Can Andrew ever have a press conference without Justin? Andrew’s gotta be the best coat holder in the state senate.

Justin carry Andrew? I didn’t think of it that way. In the situation with Angel Guardian, Gounardes stepped to the side and let Brannan speak at a meeting he didn’t belong at. Brannan is a city councilman for this area – not Angel Guardian Home. The Councilman for that area is Carlos Menchaca. When people hear that Gounardes looked the other way on that they seemed surprised. We aren’t.

Sadly, Brannan is going to run for NYC Council Speaker and non-elected representatives speaking for a community is going to be come more common.
