Why was the $15,000 Fine to Mac’s Public House Voided?

I’m into social distancing and normally, I definitely don’t like people breaking the law, but #SomethingIsNotRightHere

Mac’s Public House is the center of controversy in Staten Island.

Daniel Presti, one of the co-owners, was taken out in handcuffs on Tuesday night. The other owner, Keith McAlarney was not arrested. (Presti is on the left with the beard)

Mac’s Public House originally received a $15,000 fine, but then that fine was rescinded and they received smaller $1,000 fines. Why was it rescinded? See story

The only way NYC rescinds tickets is when people fight them in court.

Many businesses have been closed since March!

These are not rich people and they need to support their families. I’m glad to see Staten Island politicians are supporting them.

There are many people who aren’t social distancing and are holding gatherings and no one is fining them.

At the end of November there was this gathering published in the paper, yet no on was fined.

We know more now than we did in March and if this bar was a spreading COVID, then it should be shut down (yes they know the source of each COVID case because the city has people researching each case).

Staten Islanders stood up for small businesses today.

Yes, COVID-19 is here and everyone should be wearing a mask and taking precautions.

But some concessions should be made to keep small businesses open. When the coronavirus is over, people want their community to still have these businesses.

Tonight, Staten Islanders stood up for the business owner because it’s their community and they need these people. See here (use headphones as there is some inappropriate language)

When the community was standing up for the business owners, couldn’t they wear masks? C’monnnn

.

Hugs,
marlene
