How NYC Politicians and Health Officials Failed Us.
How are WE, the most powerful country in the world at this point?
A lot of people led astray and don’t know what they are talking about.
The writing was on the wall in China, Italy and other parts of the world – we could have been more prepared.
Our city didn’t take precautions either. Closing schools should have happened long before it did to make sure everyone was safe. Teachers and School leaders died because of the choices people in this city made.
Mayor de Blasio spoke about the coronavirus germs living on surfaces for a short time. I listened carefully because I wanted to know if I needed to lysol the keyboards in my room every hour or every day or every few days. De Blasio said that the coronavirus could only live for a few minutes outside the body. More than a week later we learned that the coronavirus could live for days on plastic.
This is the medical leader speaking on February 7th – she could have prepared us and told us what we needed to do.

Local leaders like City Councilman Justin Brannan and Senator Andrew Gounardes were telling people to eat in the restaurants on 8th Avenue. Those huge restaurants are usually packed, but the community knew how deadly the coronavirus was, so they weren’t going to the restaurants. Why didn’t Brannan and Gounardes take the same precautions?
UPDATE:
The firm of a big donor to Bill de Blasio, which had not previously had any recorded city contracts, got a $119M contract with NYC last month for medical equipment and PPE. It included two million N95s for $4 each. https://t.co/yxy94HLQfY
