Is Senator Gounardes Making Laws for Friends?
Senator Gounardes tweeted this:

Not so much when his friend tweeted this just hours before.
Senator Gounardes has not done anything to help Bay Ridge Merchants. Before the Pandemic, I asked him to!
When the BID information came out last year, I asked Gounardes to meet with the Bay Ridge Merchants as the group meeting for the BID lacked diversity….seriously!
Senator Gounardes didn’t. How do I know? I have asked over a dozen merchants if he has spoken with them.
The idea that business owners are wealthy and “can afford” a BID is widely held.
But there are amazing new Merchants like Mohammed who own Iraqi House…..he can’t afford a BID. I reviewed Iraqi House here.…I rarely write restaurant reviews so you know this place is special.
Not only do new businesses like Mohammed’s bring life into this community, they bring new visitors to the area as the New York Times reviewed this place because it is the only Iraqi Restaurant in NYC!
